Freshmen lead way for Mountain Hawks at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – On a tough scoring day at Springdale Golf Club, the Lehigh women's golf team maintained 11th place as the Princeton Invitational came to an end Sunday. The Mountain Hawks played Sunday's final round with Bucknell and Seton Hall and those three teams all tied for 11th place in the 15 team field at 665. Lehigh followed an opening round 326 on Saturday with a 339 Sunday.
 
Freshmen led the way for the Mountain Hawks. Aileen Jeong was the Mountain Hawks top finisher, tying for 31st place. Jeong began the day just three strokes off the lead but shot 86 on Sunday to finish at 163. Raegan Jahn turned in the top round of the day for Lehigh, carding an 82 and with an 85 on Saturday tied for 51st place at 167.
 
Junior Elizabeth McGarrigle and senior Nicole Feierberg tied for 63rd place at 170. McGarrigle improved her Saturday score by two strokes with an 84 on Sunday, while Feierberg shot 92 after opening with a solid 78.
 
Lehigh's fifth scoring player was sophomore Megan Moylan who finished in 76th place at 175 (88-87).
 
Harvard overtook host and Ivy League rival Princeton to claim the team title. The Crimson shot 298 on Sunday to finish at 616, one stroke better than the Tigers. Columbia made it an Ivy League sweep of the top three spots.
 
Georgetown's Jacquelyn Eleey was the individual medalist, shooting a one over par 73 on Sunday to finish at five over 149. Eleey beat two players by three strokes.
 
Next up for the Mountain Hawks is the Lehigh Invitational, which Lehigh will host October 18-19 at Saucon Valley Country Club.
