BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the second straight season, Lehigh men's basketball's home game against Lafayette will be part of Coaches vs. Cancer® Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend. Tipoff on Saturday is set for 7 p.m. This marks the Mountain Hawks' fourth straight year of participating in this joint effort of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches to help make a difference in the fight against cancer.
"I'm pleased our program has the opportunity to be involved in a national cause, that cause being the fight against cancer across the country and across the world," said Lehigh head coach Brett Reed. "Raising awareness and financial support is critical for the support of cancer patients and their families. We please ask that the Lehigh community support this cause and the American Cancer Society in the hopes of one day having breakthroughs with cures and eliminating this terrible disease."
This weekend (Jan. 24-26), participating coaches nation-wide will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Fans are also encouraged to show their support by wearing sport coats, brown shirts and sneakers to Saturday night's game against Lehigh's archrival Lafayette.

By lacing up sneakers with their suits, college and high school basketball coaches nationwide will spotlight the fact that while cancer remains a major health concern, everyone can take daily steps to reduce their risk of the disease. For those who do not smoke, weight control, exercise and a healthy diet are the best ways to improve health and reduce cancer risk. Obesity has been shown to increase the risk for many forms of cancer, including breast, prostate, and colon cancers and may account for 20 percent of cancer deaths in women and 14 percent in men.

Following a dramatic win over Navy Wednesday, the Mountain Hawks return home for two straight games, hosting archrival Lafayette on Saturday at 7 p.m. before welcoming Bucknell next Wednesday (Jan. 29).
Tickets are available online, including a print-at-home option, or by calling the ticket office at 610-7LU-GAME (610-758-4263). Saturday's game is part of the Summit Series and tickets are 10 dollars, and five dollars for Lehigh students. Saturday is the only regular season game that faculty and staff must purchase a ticket to attend.
