Patriot League Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a sensational freshman season, Lehigh field hockey's Marissa Glatt has been named a First Team All-Patriot League honoree. The league's second-leading scorer, Glatt scored 12 goals and added an assist to pace the offense. She is the only freshman in the league named to the first team.
Â
Glatt's 12 goals and 25 points marked the most by a Lehigh player since Kim Eng had 13 goals and 34 points in 2009.
Â
Glatt scored a goal in 11 of the team's 18 games, led by a career-high two goals at La Salle on Sept. 29. She had a six-game goal streak from Sept. 6 through Sept. 22 which extended to an eight-game point streak. In total, she had a point 10 times in one 11-game stretch. Glatt had four goals and one assist in Patriot League play, scoring at Bucknell, vs. Boston University, at Colgate and at Holy Cross.
Â
The Mountain Hawks made great strides in 2013, hanging tough against several nationally-ranked caliber opponents. Lehigh posted shutout victories over Georgetown and Towson while earning a big 2-1 win over Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles entered with a 10-3 record, two of the losses coming against top 10 squads North Carolina and Penn State. The Mountain Hawks were in every game, with their greatest margin of defeat being three goals.
Â
A talented group returns next season as 13 of the 14 players who recorded a point are underclassmen. Freshman Julia Ward returns in goal following a standout campaign which saw her post a 2.98 GAA and .756 save percentage, along with a pair of shutouts.
