BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men’s tennis team looks to continue its hot streak as the Mountain play their final match of their seven match home stand Sunday against Temple. The Owls will host George Washington on Saturday before visiting the Lewis Tennis Center Sunday morning.
The Mountain Hawks extended their winning streak to six matches and moved to 7-1 on the season with convincing 7-0 and 6-1 wins over Monmouth and Villanova last weekend. Lehigh dropped just one match last weekend, going 5-for-6 in doubles action and winning 12-for-12 in singles matches.
For Lehigh, senior Andrew Krentz and sophomores Ben Gilman and Mitchell Petersen survived the weekend with two doubles wins and two singles victories. Krentz and Petersen are tired for the team lead with seven singles victories; while Krentz and Gilman have been Lehigh’s most successful doubles pairing with a 7-1 record this season.
Temple, which is 2-4 on the season, will return to action this weekend after losing at Penn 7-0 on Feb. 20. The Owls will face Lehigh for the first time since 2010, when they beat the Mountain Hawks 6-1 in Bethlehem.
Action begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
Lehigh will then hit the road for Florida where they will play four matches against, Florida Tech, Fairfield, Marquette, and Bethune-Cookman over spring break.
