BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The strong winter storm that is expected to batter the northeast on Friday has forced the postponement of Saturday’s men’s lacrosse season-opener against Saint Joseph’s and the women’s lacrosse team’s scrimmage against La Salle. Both events will now take place on Sunday, beginning with the men’s lacrosse game, which will face-off at noon at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Forecasts indicate that the Lehigh Valley could receive anywhere from 5-to-8 inches of snow, accompanied by strong winds and cold temperatures. The brunt of the storm is expected to hit the area Friday evening into the overnight, with snow showers possibly lingering into Saturday morning.

On Sunday, the tenth-ranked men’s lacrosse team will open its 2013 season against Saint Joseph’s at noon, with the women’s lacrosse scrimmage against La Salle to follow at 3 p.m.

Because of the postponement, Lehigh will no longer be able to provide streaming video of the men’s lacrosse game, however live statistics will still be available for the contest.

Update (3 p.m. Friday): Lehigh's scheduled women's tennis match versus Delaware on Saturday has been pushed back from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Also this weekend, Lehigh is scheduled to host a men’s tennis match versus Delaware Sunday at noon, a wrestling doubleheader versus Harvard and Brown Sunday beginning at 1 p.m., and a women’s basketball game versus Holy Cross set for a 2 p.m. start on Sunday. As of Friday afternoon, all of these events remain on as scheduled.

Should any further scheduling changes arise, information will be updated here at Lehighsports.com.
