BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s tennis team will return to action this Saturday when the Mountain Hawks open up their home slate with a match against Drexel inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
In its season opener against the Penn at Levy Tennis Pavilion, the visiting Mountain Hawks suffered a 7-0 setback to the Quakers. Penn won all three of the doubles matches and swept the six singles matches in consecutive sets to earn the victory.
The Mountain Hawks were limited to just six players against Penn with junior Taylor Hampshire still sidelined due to injury. Junior Jenai Bilimoria and sophomore Abby Farrell manned the top two spots in the lineup, while junior Jill Sloand, sophomores Emily Bruch and Molly Brooks and freshman Ali Kaminetsky all saw action.
In Saturday’s home opener, Lehigh will be challenged by a Drexel team that won a pair of dual matches in its fall season.
Last year, Drexel defeated Lehigh 6-1 at the Lewis Tennis Center, with Farrell accounting for the Mountain Hawks’ lone point with a win at No. 3 singles.
Following the Drexel Match, Lehigh’s schedule features a stretch of eight straight home matches at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks will also travel to Florida over spring break to participate in matches against Florida Tech and Bethune-Cookman.
Saturday’s Lehigh-Drexel match gets underway at 11 a.m. from the Lewis Tennis Center.
