BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh freshman forward Justin Goldsborough has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Goldsborough enjoyed a breakout week, posting 12 points and 18 rebounds over a pair of 30-point victories. That included a game-high 10 boards against Holy Cross Saturday as the Mountain Hawks dominated the glass (39-26), against a strong rebounding team.
Goldsborough is Lehigh’s first Rookie of the Week in two seasons, since Mackey McKnight earned the honor during the final week of 2010-11. He wins Lehigh’s third weekly award of the season and first since senior C.J. McCollum was named Player of the Week on Nov. 26.
Goldsborough led the Mountain Hawks in rebounding both games, posting eight against Muhlenberg then 10 vs. Holy Cross, which included numerous athletic boards in traffic. He added six points in each game while shooting an efficient 56 percent for the week (5-of-9).
Senior Holden Greiner also earned honorable mention recognition for a second straight week after scoring 29 points, including 15 against Holy Cross. He shot 58 percent from three for the week (7-of-12).
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they head to American to face the Eagles. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
