BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Kerry Kinek garnered her third Anaconda Patriot League Rookie of the Week award after putting together two double-digit scoring performances this past week in wins against Mount St. Mary’s and NJIT. The weekly award is the third of Kinek’s young career as the Whitehall, Pa. native continues to lead the Mountain Hawks in scoring and rebounding.
Kinek was a major contributor in Lehigh’s two tough wins this past week on the road as the 6-3 freshman was the second leading scorer against Mount St. Mary’s, pouring in 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds in the 66-57 victory over the Mount on Wednesday.
She then continued to pace the Mountain Hawks’ offense, dropping a game-high 17 points in the 46-45 win over NJIT on Saturday afternoon. Kinek again narrowly missed a double-double, falling just one rebound shy as she grabbed nine on the day.
Kinek averaged 14.5 ppg, 9.0 rbg and 30.5 minutes per game this past week in the pair of road wins. She is now tied with Army’s Aimee Oertner and Kelsey Minato with her three Patriot League weekly awards this season. After Monday’s 58-33 victory in which Kinek registered 10 points and eight rebounds, she now leads the team with 11.6 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per contest.
