BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team was honored for their hard work in the classroom as the Mountain Hawks earned Scholar All-American Team honors for the 2012 spring semester from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. To earn this distinction, a swimming and diving team must have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average for the semester. Lehigh’s women were recognized for having a 3.33 team GPA in the spring.
The Mountain Hawks were previously honored by the CSCAA for their academic work in the spring and fall of 2009 and the spring of 2010.
Last month Lehigh placed 13 student-athletes on the Patriot League women’s swimming and diving Academic Honor Roll, including three who earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring: seniors Lauren Armstrong Alyssa Siano and Paola Simon. Junior diver Daniela Sonderegger was not far behind at 3.98. Sonderegger was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team back in February.
In the pool, Lehigh went 4-7 in dual meets in the 2011-12 season. The Mountain Hawks placed fifth at the Patriot League Championships, setting three new school records along the way.
Lehigh’s women were one of 143 Division I programs recognized, including five Patriot League women’s programs. Alabama and Clemson topped the list with a 3.62 team GPA for the spring semester.
