Mountain Hawks cruise past Navy, 71-49
The Lehigh men’s basketball team bounced back from Sunday’s loss to Lafayette in a big way, jumping out to a 10-point halftime lead and extending it from there, as the Mountain Hawks topped the Midshipmen 71-49 on Wednesday evening in Alumni Hall. Sophomore Stefan Cvrkalj paced the offense with 18 points on five three-pointers, while senior Holden Greiner posted his fifth-career double-double (and second in the last four games) with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Hot shooting Mids sink Lehigh, 72-47
After connecting on 14 three-pointers and shooting 50 percent from the field, the Navy Midshipmen (12-9, 5-1 Patriot League) upended the Lehigh women’s basketball team (10-11, 2-4 Patriot League) by a final score of 72-47 Wednesday night. Freshman Kerry Kinek notched her ninth straight double digit performance with 15 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Mountain Hawks dropped their third straight contest.

The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team is in its second week of preseason practice as a young squad is hard at work preparing for the 2013 season. The Mountain Hawks began practice last Monday (Jan. 21) and despite a hard-fought battle against the winter elements, players and coaches alike are excited to be back on the field.

Lao-Gosneys star for Team USA in Champion Challenge victory
Former Lehigh standouts Roman and Cameron Lao-Gosney each scored a goal as the United States men’s national team defeated reigning national champion Loyola, 17-13 in the Champion Challenge on Sunday. Roman (wearing number 10) and Cameron (number nine) scored consecutive U.S. goals in just 1:01 to turn a 6-6 tie into an 8-6 halftime lead.

Lehigh drops 78-57 final to Lafayette
The Lehigh men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome an early deficit, as Lafayette’s hot-shooting sparked the Leopards (10-12, 3-2 Patriot League) to a 78-57 win over the Mountain Hawks (14-5, 4-1) in front of a season-high 3,279 fans at Stabler Arena Sunday. Senior Gabe Knutson and juniors Mackey McKnight and B.J. Bailey led the way with 12 points apiece.

Lehigh splits with Lafayette in annual dual meet
After the women coasted to a 97-84 victory, the men’s side came down to the final event in which Lafayette prevailed for a 91-89 win as the archrivals split the meet. The women won the event yet again behind senior Julia Perry and junior Brooke Astor who were named athletes of the meet. Junior Ryan Paquin and senior Devin Monroe earned the honors on the men’s half.

Lehigh’s rally cut short as Mountain Hawks fall to Lafayette 68-52
After trailing by 13 at the half, the Lehigh women’s basketball team (10-10, 2-3 Patriot League) rallied to cut the Leopard lead to just five, but Lafayette (8-12, 1-4 Patriot League) was able to outlast the Mountain Hawks for its first Patriot League victory. Senior co-captain Becky Guman scored 13 second half points, but a strong effort on the boards and from the bench helped propel Lafayette.

Upset bid denied as Lehigh falls to Oregon State 20-14
One day after upsetting No. 16 Oklahoma, the Lehigh wrestling team fell just short in another upset bid as No. 10 Oregon State won six of ten bouts to defeat the Mountain Hawks 20-14 Saturday afternoon at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Lehigh trailed 10-8 at intermission, but Oregon State won three of the next four matches to clinch the dual.

Mountain Hawks rally to upset No. 16 Oklahoma 21-14
In its most impressive win of the season to date, the Lehigh wrestling team won six of ten bouts to upset No. 16 Oklahoma 21-14 in front of 2,719 fans Friday night at Stabler Arena. Senior Robert Hamlin gave Lehigh the lead for good with a 22-7 technical fall in 5:43 over Nolan McBryde at 184, as the Mountain Hawks won the final four bouts to rally for the victory.

Mountain Hawks shock Bucknell, 65-62
In its fifth game without star C.J. McCollum, the Lehigh men’s basketball went to Bucknell and won anyway, topping the Bison 65-62 in front of a raucous crowd on Wednesday evening in Sojka Pavilion. Junior B.J. Bailey shattered his career high with 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 4-of-4 from three-point range while sophomore Mackey McKnight had 15.
