Mountain Hawks to host Lafayette in dual meet
The Lehigh women’s cross country team will be in search of its eighth consecutive dual meet victory over rival Lafayette when the Mountain Hawks host the Leopards on Friday, Sept. 14 at 5:45 p.m. The Mountain Hawks finished second in the Lehigh Invitational on Aug. 31, falling just 24 points shy of Delaware, but placed three runners inside the top 10.

Lehigh takes home second in Lehigh Invitational
The Lehigh women’s cross country team finished second in Friday night’s Lehigh Invitational after finishing three runners in the top 10. The Mountain Hawks top finisher, Hannah Pierce, crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 22:57.91. Lehigh was clipped by Delaware after finishing with an overall team score of 50.

Mountain Hawks set to host Lehigh Invitational Friday
The Lehigh women’s cross country team is ready to open its 2012 season by hosting the Lehigh Invitational at the Goodman Campus Course on Friday. The Mountain Hawks took first place in last year’s race and return five runners that placed inside the top 13 including Shannon Nelson who finished sixth with a time of 22:57.40.

Season Preview: Lehigh women’s cross country ready for 2012 campaign
The Lehigh women’s cross country team will rely on new faces to lead the pack in order to fill voids left by the spring graduates to compete in the upcoming season. With the return of experienced runners, including senior Samantha Andersen and junior Jessica Kendzor, Lehigh is primed for 2012.

Pierce named to Division I All-Academic USTFCCCA Team
Katherine Pierce was named to the Division I All-Academic U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Team while Lehigh was among 171 institutions whose program earned All-Academic status posting a GPA of 3.00 or better. Pierce was among a record breaking 676 student-athletes on the team.

Record 11 Mountain Hawks named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
A record 11 Lehigh student-athletes were recently recognized as recipients of the 2012 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award as named earlier this week by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Eight different Lehigh athletic programs are represented, including men’s and women’s cross country and track and field, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, women’s swimming and diving, women’s soccer and softball.

Three from Lehigh honored by LVAIAW
Three Mountain Hawks were recognized Tuesday at the annual LVAIAW (Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) awards luncheon at Starters Riverport. Seniors Genna Pepe (soccer) and Katherine Pierce (track & field/cross country) were recognized within their respective sports while Julie Fernandez (softball) was named the Outstanding Athlete at Lehigh.

Lehigh celebrates 2011-12 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 30 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Lehigh places 13 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh women’s cross country team placed 13 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Six Mountain Hawks earned at least a 3.60 GPA, landing them on Lehigh’s Dean List as well capping off a stellar cross country season on and off the course. Senior design arts major Megan Hetzel led the way with a perfect 4.00, her fourth straight year on the Honor Roll.

Lehigh’s first Patriot League Championship team honored
Lehigh welcomed home members of the 1992 women’s cross country team Saturday, as a luncheon was held to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its Patriot League Championship, the first-ever Patriot League Championship captured by any Lehigh team. The champions and their families were invited to return to campus for the event as part of a larger celebration of 40 years of women at Lehigh.
