Mountain Hawks look back at 2012 season at annual banquet
The Lehigh women’s cross country team held its annual banquet on December 9 to reflect on yet another strong season. The Mountain Hawks gathered at the University Center to hold a luncheon, awards ceremony and a season reflection by head coach Debbie Utesch.

Lehigh tied for second in initial Presidents' Cup standings
The Patriot League announced its initial Presidents’ Cup standings on Tuesday with Lehigh tied for second overall at the completion of the fall season. Lehigh checks in with 32 points and tops the men’s overall standings with 16 points. The Mountain Hawk women are tied for fifth place with 16 points.

Mountain Hawks finish 15th at Mid-Atlantic Regionals
The Lehigh women’s cross country team finished 15th out of 31 competing squads at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in University Park, Pa. The Mountain Hawks recorded a combined score of 457 points, finishing just six points behind Loyola (Md.). Senior Julia Perry was Lehigh’s top performing runner, taking 62nd after crossing the line in 22:14 on the 6K course.

Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers are next for Mountain Hawks
After a fourth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh women’s cross country team will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifiers on the campus of Penn State University on Friday, November 9. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to ride the momentum from their best finish at the Patriot League Championships since notching third place in 2008 race.

Lehigh to run at Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers
In the midst of one of their best seasons in history, the Lehigh men’s and women’s cross country teams will seek to build on their Patriot League Championships performances as the Mountain Hawks will compete in this Friday’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifiers in University Park, Pa. at 12 p.m. The men will be running in hopes for a return to Louisville, Ky., while the women will be seeking their first trip to the Bluegrass state for a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships.

Mountain Hawks finish fourth at Patriot League Championships
Behind a fourth-place finish by senior Julia Perry, the Lehigh women’s cross country team took fourth place in the 2012 Patriot League Championships in Hamilton N.Y. Perry was the top Lehigh performer, finishing in 22:41.4 on Harry H. Lang course, followed by sophomore Ingrid Simon who crossed the line in 23:22.0 for 11th place. The fourth-place finish is the best for the women since taking third in the 2008 Patriot League Championships.

Mountain Hawks to race for first title of fall season
The first Patriot League champion will be crowned on Saturday, as the cross country teams will take to the Harry H. Lang course in Hamilton, N.Y. in search of the first title of the fall 2012 season. After a 24th-place finish in a star-studded field at the Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky., the Lehigh men’s cross country team will be seeking its first Patriot League Championship. The women will be in search of their second title in school history, the lone championship coming in the fall of 1992.

Mountain Hawks seek Patriot League title Saturday
The Lehigh women’s cross country team will be in search of the Patriot League crown this Saturday when it treks to Hamilton, N.Y. to compete in the 2012 Patriot League Championships on the Harry H. Lang course at the campus of Colgate. Led by senior Julia Perry and junior co-captains Tori Berard and Sam Andersen, the Mountain Hawks will be in search of their second title in school history, the lone championship coming in 1992.

Lehigh meets Olympic medalist during training week
During an off-week between meets, the Lehigh women’s cross country team was able to meet Olympic medalist Shalene Flanagan at the Sand Island Park where the 2008 Bronze medal award winner was making an appearance to take pictures, sign autographs and connect with fans. The team was thrilled to meet Flanagan as she exemplifies one of the best in her sport.

Mountain Hawks finish 15th at Princeton Invitational
The Lehigh women’s cross country team finished 15th of 25 teams at the Princeton Invitational Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks scored a total of 379 points. Junior Hannah Pierce was the top finisher for Lehigh, crossing the line in 22:54 for a 58th-place finish. Next up for Lehigh will be the Patriot League Championships, hosted by Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y.

Mountain Hawks set to compete at Princeton Invitational
The Lehigh women’s cross country team will travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational this Saturday. The event will be the first for the Mountain Hawks since the Paul Short Run on Sept. 28 and will be the first time they travel away from the Goodman Campus Course this season. This will be the final tune-up before the Mountain Hawks compete at the Patriot League Championships in Hamilton, N.Y. on Saturday, October 27.

Rauch Fieldhouse renovations feature Wall of Champions unveiling
A crowd of nearly 250 gathered at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday, September 29 to celebrate the facility’s renovations and to honor alumnus Ken Jones ’83. The ribbon-cutting event was attended by current and former track and field athletes and coaches; and friends, family members, and fraternity brothers of Ken Jones, a former track and field student-athlete and member of Chi Psi fraternity, who passed away in May 2011.

Mountain Hawks finish 30th at Paul Short Run
In a field of 40 colleges in the women’s college Gold 6K race, the Lehigh women’s cross country team finished 30th with an overall score of 840 points. The Mountain Hawks’ top performer was senior Julia Perry who placed 146th out of the 360 finishers with a time of 22:37. It was just Perry’s second cross country race of her career as she edged out junior Hannah Pierce who finished 162nd in 22:47 as the second Lehigh finisher.

Lehigh completes 39th Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks
Lehigh University was the site of the 39th Annual Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks as more than 5,000 athletes and 400 schools traveled from across the nation to compete in the prestigious event. The Lehigh men’s cross country team finished ninth in a field of 37 teams in the men’s college Gold 8K, its best finish of the decade, as the women’s cross country team took 30th of 40 in the women’s college Gold 6K.

Lehigh University will yet again be the site of one of the largest cross country meets in the nation when over 5,000 runners from over 400 teams will be in the spotlight as the 39th Annual Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks, kicks off on Friday morning. The all-day event will start at 10 a.m. with the Open Women’s 6K race and last until 5:45 p.m. Last year, the Lehigh men finished in 20th place out of 45 teams, while the women took home 24th out of 45 squads in the prestigious event.

Mountain Hawks extend win streak to eight dual meets over rival Lafayette
The Lehigh women’s cross country team won its eighth straight dual meet against rival Lafayette by a final score of 17-46 on Friday night on the Goodman Campus Course, including a win by senior Julia Perry, who crossed the line in 22:35. The Mountain Hawks finished four of the first five runners on Friday night and finished nine of the top 10 athletes on the 6K course. Perry’s win was the first of her collegiate career in her first ever collegiate run.

Lehigh sweeps rival Lafayette at annual dual meet
The men’s and women’s cross country teams completed the collective sweep over rival Lafayette on Friday night, defeating the Leopards to extend the consecutive dual meet victories to 14 and eight, respectively. For the men, junior co-captain Tyler Mueller won his second consecutive race, finishing in 24:54 in the first 8K run of 2012. Senior Julia Perry won her first collegiate meet for the women, crossing the line in 22:35.

Lehigh vs. Lafayette rekindles on Friday in cross country
The Lehigh vs. Lafayette battle will renew once again on Friday when the men’s and women’s cross country teams meet on the Goodman Campus Course at 5:45 p.m. for their annual dual race with the rival Leopards. The men’s team will be seeking its 14th consecutive victory over Lafayette while the women will be seeking their seventh straight win against the Leopards.

Lehigh names Andersen and Berard 2012 captains
The Lehigh women’s cross country team announced on Thursday that seniors Samantha Andersen and Tori Berard have been named the fall captains for the 2012 season. The captains were announced at a team meeting between head coach Debbie Utesch and her squad on the eve of a meet against rival Lafayette.
