Lehigh looks back on fall season at annual banquet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The women’s cross country team marked the completion of its fall season on January 16 at its annual banquet. The banquet was held in the University Center and sponsored by the Lehigh Athletics Partnership. The program included dinner, an awards presentation and an end of season reflection by the coaching staff. Three team members were honored with awards for their prestige during competitions and in the classroom.
The Athlete of the Year, which is presented to a student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding accomplishments during competition, was awarded to junior Katherine Pierce. Pierce placed 27th in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships with a time of 21:07. She was also Lehigh’s top female performer at the Patriot League Championships, finishing tenth overall in the women’s 6K race. Pierce was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.
The Scholar Athlete Award was presented to senior Alexis Weiner for her exemplary performance in the classroom. Weiner is an Architecture major, who has achieved a 3.83 cumulative GPA. She has earned a 4.0 GPA multiple semesters during her undergraduate career, including this past fall. Weiner has also been a multi-year member of the Dean’s List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The Coaches Award, given to senior Andrea Mascaro, is presented to a teammate that exemplifies all-around leadership and teamwork. She has set an example for her teammates by displaying a tireless work ethic and positive attitude. Mascaro was also Lehigh’s second top finisher in the Patriot League Championship, coming in 25th with a time of 21:37.
