Posted: 02/02/2011
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Eleven members of the Lehigh women’s cross country team were named to the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll, which was announced Wednesday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks excelled in the classroom last fall, with three student-athletes earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester. In order to qualify for the honor roll, student-athletes must maintain a 3.2 GPA while in season.

Seniors Alexis Weiner and Kaitlin Grimm, and Sophomore Samantha Andersen posted a 4.0 semester
GPA. They were three of 17 runners from the league to earn a 4.0 or better in the fall. Sophomore Lauren Pietrosh and Megan Hetzel followed close behind with GPAs of 3.93 and 3.85. Seven out of the team’s 11 Academic Honor Roll selections achieved over a 3.6 for the fall.

A total of 116 women’s cross country student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll, led by Colgate’s Elise DeRoo, who was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league’s sports information directors in November. Junior Katherine Pierce was voted to the Academic All-Patriot League team in November as well.
