Pietrosh, Pierce named to Academic All-League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Two student-athletes from the Lehigh women’s track and field team were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, announced Tuesday. Junior Lauren Pietrosh and senior Katherine Pierce were recognized for their work in the classroom as well as on the track.
 
A marketing major, Pietrosh owns a 3.88 GPA. She is a two-time Patriot League Honor Roll member and been a member of the Dean’s List multiple times.
 
A First Team All-Patriot League selection, Pietrosh won a pair of Patriot League Championships. She was part of the winning 3,200-meter relay team that took first with an ECAC qualifying time of 8:59.60 and also helped was part of the team that took first in the Distance Medley Race with another ECAC qualifying time of 12:02.21.
 
Pierce carries a 3.57 GPA and is in Lehigh’s IDEAS (Integrated Degree in Engineering, Arts and Science) program and is focusing on architecture and design arts with some civil engineering mixed in. She also has a minor in Jewish Studies. She is also a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and multiple-time member of the Dean’s List.
 
Pierce was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection this season after finishing second in the 5,000-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 17:13.00 at the Patriot League Championships. Pierce also placed third in the 3,000-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:49.85.
 
To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Patriot League awards, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA.
 
Pietrosh, Pierce and a large group of other Mountain Hawks will compete this weekend in the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass. The event will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. and will continue on Sunday at 1 pm.
