Posted: 03/02/2012
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a third-place finish at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago, the Lehigh women’s track and field team will send 11 student-athletes to compete at the ECAC Championships this weekend in Boston, Mass. The meet will get underway Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue Sunday at 1 p.m. Among the women’s qualifiers will be three-time Patriot League Champion Jessica Kendzor and two-time champion Julia Perry, both of whom will compete in three events this weekend.

Kendzor’s three Championships came in the 800-meter run, the 4X800-meter relay and the Distance Medley Relay and she will compete this weekend in those three events.

Perry two Championships came on the 4X800 relay team and the DMR as she will compete alongside Kendzor in those events this weekend. Perry will also be racing in the 1,000-meter run.

Along with Kendzor and Perry, four other Mountain Hawks qualified in the 4X800 and DMR: Lauren Pietrosh, Kathleen Ryan, Alex Neville and Elizabeth McManus.

All-Patriot Leaguer Katherine Pierce will be the seventh Mountain Hawk to compete in multiple events as she will race in the 5,000-meter and 3,000-meter run.

Four Mountain Hawks will compete in single events. Patriot League Champion Brooke Astor will compete in the pentathlon after she took first in the Championships with 3,450 points. All-Patriot Leaguer E’Lana Lemon will look to continue her stellar season as she competes in the weight throw while All-Patriot Leaguer Savanna Plombon will compete in the 3,000-meter run.

And Alexandra Doersam, who set the school record in the long jump (18-10ft, 5.74m) this season, will compete in the long jump this weekend.

Lehigh finished 43rd at last year’s ECACs as Kendzor had an All-East performance, as she set the Lehigh school record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:52.37, breaking her own record of 2:52.79 which she had set the day prior in the preliminaries.

All-East honors are earned by finishing in the top eight in an event.
