Lehigh picked to finish third in PL Outdoor Preseason Poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the 2012 outdoor season ready to get underway, the Lehigh women’s track and field team has been picked to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll, as announced by the league Thursday. The Mountain Hawks garnered 73 points to finish behind Bucknell (94) and Navy (90) while being picked well ahead of Army and Holy Cross which tied for fourth at 48 points.
 
Colgate was picked to finish sixth (42), Lafayette seventh (40) and American eighth (14).The preseason polls are voted on by the coaches and sports information directors for each school.
 
Lehigh finished third at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in February and third at the 2011 Outdoor Championships.
 
The defending champion Bucknell Bison were picked first overall and will look to make it four straight Patriot League Championships.
 
Lehigh will kick off its outdoor season Saturday when the Mountain Hawks will travel to Philadelphia to compete in the Big 5 Invitational, hosted by Penn. The outdoor Patriot League Championships will be held at Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. on May 4th and 5th.
