BOSTON, Mass. – Lehigh women’s track and field sophomore Jessica Kendzor and junior Julia Perry earned All-East honors at the ECAC Championships Sunday in Boston, Mass. Perry placed fifth in the 1,000-meter in a time of 2:51.55, a new Lehigh school record. Kendzor was eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.54 and set a school record with a time of 2:10.24 in the preliminary race.
The Mountain Hawks sent 11 student-athletes to compete in the Championships which concludes the indoor track and field season.
Kendzor – a three-time Patriot League Champion this winter – had her second straight All-East performance. Kendzor set the school record in the prelims of the 800-meter run surpassing the 2:13.23 which was set in 2009 by Sarah Serwo.
At last year’s ECAC Championships, Kendzor earned All-East honors after breaking the school record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:52.37. That record was broken on Sunday by Perry, a two-time Patriot League Champion this winter.
Lehigh had some other stellar performances as senior Katherine Pierce placed 10th in the 5,000-meter run and 16th in the 3,000-meter run. Freshman Savanna Plombon placed 21st in the 3,000-meter run.
Junior E’Lana Lemon placed 10th in the weight throw, just missing out on All-East honors by 0.25 meters.
All-East honors are handed out to the top eight finishers in each event.
The Mountain Hawks will next compete in three weeks to kick off the outdoor track and field season at the ASICS Winthrop Invitational in Winthrop, SC and the Big 5 Invite in Philadelphia, Pa.
