Lehigh track and field senior Katherine Pierce will participate in the 2012 NCAA East Regional which will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. on the campus of the University of North Florida on May 24-26. Pierce will be racing in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday at 9:40 p.m. Pierce - the school record order in the 10,000m run - qualifies for her first NCAA Regional.
Lehigh women’s track and field sophomore Brooke Astor earned All-East honors for the second consecutive year at the ECAC Championships over the weekend in Princeton, N.J. Astor placed fourth in the heptathlon with 4,674 points to earn five points for the Mountain Hawks, which finished 39th overall. Astor won the 100m hurdles along the way with a time of 14.85.
Three student-athletes on the Lehigh women’s track and field team were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the league Friday. Senior Katherine Pierce, junior Brittany Pietrosh and junior Lauren Pietrosh each earned a spot on the 12-member team as the trio boasts at least a 3.57 GPA.
In its final meet of the outdoor season, the Lehigh women’s track and field team will compete at the ECAC Championships Friday through Sunday in Princeton, N.J. The Mountain Hawks will send 19 student-athletes to the meet as they will try to qualify for the NCAA Regionals and earn All-East honors. Lehigh is coming off a third place finish at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships last weekend.
For the second year in a row, the Lehigh women’s track and field team placed third at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. The Mountain Hawks had some stellar performances on the final day highlighted by two Patriot League champions. Brooke Astor won the heptathlon breaking the league record while the 4x100m relay team broke the school record en route to its victory.
