Adam Thielemann is in his first season as an assistant coach at Lehigh. He coaches the throwing events. Thielemann comes to Lehigh following brief coaching stints at Mount Vernon High School (VA) and Dickinson College.
In his first indoor season at Lehigh, Thielemann watched three athletes qualify for the ECAC/IC4A indoor championships, and guided three athletes to scoring finishes at the Patriot League Championships. Senior E’Lana Lemon, the most decorated field event athlete in Patriot league history, claimed her first Patriot League indoor weight throw championship with teammate Jimil Ataman throwing just shy of her personal best set earlier this season to finish fourth in the weight. On the men’s side, senior Chris Buck threw a personal best and IC4A qualifier finishing fourth in the Patriot League men’s shot put competition. In the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet, Thielemann’s athletes claimed both weight throw titles with four athletes setting personal bests.
Prior to his arrival at Lehigh, Thielemann coached the shot put and discus at the high school level and worked as a javelin specialist at Dickinson College, where he coached Jesse Fleischmann and John Bingham.
Thielemann earned his B.S. in Secondary Education from Penn State in 2010, where he competed as a thrower. At the conclusion of his career, Thielemann made one NCAA East Regional Championship and was ranked fifth all-time in the men’s discus. In addition to throwing the discus, Thielemann threw the hammer and weight.
