Lemon finishes 17th, Ataman ends in 30th at NCAA East Regional
Two athletes from the Lehigh women’s track and field team ended their outdoor seasons with successful performances at the NCAA East Regional on Friday. Competing in the second flight in the preliminaries of the hammer throw, senior E’lana Lemon finished 17th and junior Jimil Ataman placed 30th out of the 48 athletes in the event.

Two throwers to represent Lehigh at NCAA East Regional
Junior Jimil Ataman and senior E’lana Lemon will be representing Lehigh's women's track and field team at the NCAA East Regional by competing in the hammer throw. The meet begins Thursday in Greensboro, N.C. with the event scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday. Selections and rankings for the east and west regionals were announced May 16.

Lehigh sending five athletes to first round of NCAA Championships
Five athletes from Lehigh’s men’s and women’s track and field teams will be competing at the NCAA East Regional, which begins Thursday in Greensboro, N.C. Senior Devin Monroe will sprint in the 400 meter dash to represent the men’s team along with high jump competitors sophomore Adeolu Adesida and junior captain Pat Ciez. Junior Jimil Ataman and senior E’lana Lemon will compete in the hammer throw for the women.

Five Mountain Hawks heading to NCAA East Regional
Lehigh’s track and field teams will be sending five athletes to compete at the NCAA East Regional from May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C. Senior Devin Monroe will run in the first round of the 400 meter dash, while junior Pat Ciez and sophomore Adeolu Adesida have earned spots in the high jump. On the women’s side, junior Jimil Ataman and senior E’lana Lemon will represent the Brown and White in the hammer throw at North Carolina A&T’s Irwin Belk Track.

Pair of Mountain Hawks selected to Academic All-Patriot League Team
Lehigh track and field junior Jimil Ataman and senior Lauren Pietrosh were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Monday. The two Mountain Hawks are among a group of 10 athletes that hold a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.45. A History major, Ataman has held a 3.55 cumulative GPA while Pietrosh has maintained a 3.90 cumulative GPA in marketing during her career.

Astor shatters own record, sprinters perform well at outdoor regional championships
Lehigh’s women’s and men’s track and field teams followed up the Patriot League Outdoor Championships by sending 19 athletes to compete at the ECAC and IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J. The women’s team had five competitors across three events at the regional meet, which lasted from Friday to Sunday. The men were represented by 14 athletes in 10 different events.

Lehigh sending 19 athletes to compete at regional championships
Following their impressive performances at the Outdoor Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams will be competing at the IC4A and ECAC Championships on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Princeton, N.J. The men’s team will have 14 representatives at the IC4A meet while the women will send five athletes to ECAC competition.

Lehigh’s women finish third, men fourth in PL Championships
The Lehigh women’s and men’s track and field teams finished in third and fourth place at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships for the third consecutive season Saturday at the Goodman Campus. The women’s squad racked up 119.25 points, while the men earned 85 points.

Mountain Hawks boast record holders as they host Patriot League Championships
The Lehigh women’s track and field team will host the Patriot League Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Goodman Campus for the first time in six years. The league championships will begin with the women’s 10,000 meter run at 9:45 a.m. Friday, while the remaining three events in the heptathlon kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Lehigh celebrates 2012-13 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 29 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, recognition of student-athlete winners of Lehigh University awards and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Wardle captures PL Rookie of the Week award
After placing in the top three in two events at the Lehigh Games on Saturday, freshman Gabrielle Wardle earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors it was announced Monday. It was the first time in her career she won a league award.

Student-athletes enjoy unique experiece in Croatia over spring break
Over spring break, a group of six student-athletes were accompanied by two members of the Lehigh faculty, on the trip of a lifetime to Croatia. The purpose of the trip was to provide a collaboratively-developed and intentionally-designed study abroad experience for student-athletes over spring break. It targeted a population of students who might not otherwise have this co-curricular learning and leadership development opportunity.

Lemon takes home weekly Patriot League honor to bump up records
Senior E’Lana Lemon captured the Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week award for the 14th time in her illustrious career at Lehigh. This is the sixth time during the 2012-13 season she has earned the honor, breaking the single season mark set by Bucknell’s Marjorie Grap during the 2006-07 season.

Lehigh’s women’s team has not lost an indoor or outdoor dual against Lafayette since 2008.

While competing at the Winthrop Invite, Lafayette 7 Way, and Raleigh Relays this weekend, the Lehigh women’s track and field team enjoyed strong performances from its throwers and sprinters. The Mountain Hawks finished fifth at Lafayette with 47 points, while no team scores were kept at the other two meets.

The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams will split themselves between Friday’s Winthrop Invite in Rock Hill, S.C. and the Lafayette 7-Way on Saturday. Mountain Hawks led by top throwing finishes in outdoor opener
The Lehigh women’s track and field team opened its outdoor season at the Philadelphia College Classic on Saturday with the throwers registering top finishes. Many of Lehigh’s competitors at the event were not able to use the indoor season to practice for their events.

Four school records were broken and three individuals garnered All-East recognition as the Lehigh track and field teams concluded their indoor seasons at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, which wrapped up Sunday at Boston University. Nineteen men and 11 women on the Lehigh track and field teams will travel to Boston this weekend for the IC4A and ECAC Championships, hoping to end their indoor seasons on a high note. The select athletes qualified based on predetermined standards and will be competing against the best of the best from Division I schools in the northeast. Astor, Utesch claim major awards as Lehigh finishes third at PLCs
The Lehigh women’s track and field team completed a strong showing at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, which wrapped-up Sunday at Army’s Gillis Field House. The Mountain Hawks challenged for the top spot throughout the weekend and finished in third place with 106.33 points. The Lehigh women’s track and field team completed its second day of competition at the Patriot League Championships in second place, trailing leader Bucknell by less than two points heading into the final day. The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams will both enter the final day of the Patriot League Championships within striking distance of the leaders as the men’s team finished day two with 33 points, resting in third. After the women coasted to a 97-84 victory, the men’s side came down to the final event in which Lafayette prevailed for a 91-89 win as the archrivals split the meet. The women won the event yet again behind senior Julia Perry and junior Brooke Astor who were named athletes of the meet. Mountain Hawk men and women finish fourth at Army six-way meet
The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams finished fourth at the Army six-way meet on Saturday. The men scored 98.50 points, while the women tallied 111, each good for fourth place. The women were highlighted by seniors E’Lana Lemon and Julia Perry who won the weight throw (17.66m) and 1000m (2:57.56), while the men were paced by Derek Gaul’s first place distance in the long jump (6.84m).

Mountain Hawks return to action with meet at Army
After a month long hiatus for the holidays, the Lehigh women’s track and field team will return to competition with a meet at the New York Armory. The Mountain Hawks will be searching to build on their already strong foundation established in December with the Season Opener and Fast Times Before Finals meets.
