Mountain Hawks perform well at Fast Times Before Finals meet
The Lehigh women’s track and field team followed its strong showing at the Season Opener with yet another solid performance at the Fast Times Before Finals meet on Friday night inside Rauch Fieldhouse. The Mountain Hawks competed against Penn, Alvernia, Ursinus, West Chester, Rider, Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg, DeSales Lock Haven, Lafayette and Millersville.

Lehigh to host Fast Times Before Finals meet on Friday
After 14 first place finishers in the Lehigh Season Opener a week ago, the Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in their second meet as they host their annual Fast Times Before Finals meet on Friday inside Rauch Fieldhouse. The meet will be Lehigh’s last of 2012 as the teams continue to prepare for the Patriot League Championships.

Lemon claims Patriot League Weekly Award
For the ninth time in her career, senior E’Lana Lemon has been named the Patriot League’s Female Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Dec. 2. Lemon dominated the women’s weight throw on Friday with a distance of 17.17 meters, 3.17 meters ahead of the rest of the field.

Mountain Hawks begin indoor season with exceptional Season Opener
Lehigh’s women’s track and field teams began its indoor season with a successful Season Opener that included eight first-place finishers, a number of personal records and a solid foundation for what could amount to an extremely strong 2012-13 season. The Mountain Hawks’ effort was highlighted by first-place finish in the 400 meters by Danielle Albergo with a time of 59:45.

Men picked fourth, women third in track and field indoor preseason poll
The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams were picked to finish fourth and third in the Patriot League’s preseason poll released on Friday. Last season, the Lehigh men finished fourth at the Indoor Patriot League Championships, while the women finished third. Lehigh begins its indoor season tonight with the Lehigh Season Opener inside Rauch Fieldhouse at 5 p.m.

Rauch Fieldhouse renovations feature Wall of Champions unveiling
A crowd of nearly 250 gathered at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday, September 29 to celebrate the facility’s renovations and to honor alumnus Ken Jones ’83. The ribbon-cutting event was attended by current and former track and field athletes and coaches; and friends, family members, and fraternity brothers of Ken Jones, a former track and field student-athlete and member of Chi Psi fraternity, who passed away in May 2011.

Record 11 Mountain Hawks named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
A record 11 Lehigh student-athletes were recently recognized as recipients of the 2012 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award as named earlier this week by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Eight different Lehigh athletic programs are represented, including men’s and women’s cross country and track and field, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, women’s swimming and diving, women’s soccer and softball.

Lehigh places 93 women on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
As part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the Patriot League announced all seven of its women’s winter/spring Academic Honor Rolls on Wednesday. Lehigh was well represented as the Mountain Hawks accounted for 93 of the over 650 women’s student-athletes named to the honor roll.

Lehigh lands 29 on Patriot League Honor Roll
The Lehigh women’s track and field team landed 29 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday, capping off an impressive season on and off the track. The Mountain Hawks finished third in the Patriot League Championships and last month, had three named to the 12-member Patriot League Academic All-League team.

Pierce finishes 36th at NCAA First Round Thursday
Lehigh women's track and field senior Katherine Pierce placed 36th in the 10,000 meter run at the NCAA First Round Thursday night with a time of 37:08.14 to cap a stellar season and career. Her time was only two minutes off of her school-record time which she set earlier in the season which helped her qualify for her first ever NCAA First Round appearance.

Pierce earns bid to NCAA First Round
Lehigh track and field senior Katherine Pierce will participate in the 2012 NCAA East Regional which will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. on the campus of the University of North Florida on May 24-26. Pierce will be racing in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday at 9:40 p.m. Pierce - the school record order in the 10,000m run - qualifies for her first NCAA Regional.

Astor earns All-East honors at ECAC Championships
Lehigh women’s track and field sophomore Brooke Astor earned All-East honors for the second consecutive year at the ECAC Championships over the weekend in Princeton, N.J. Astor placed fourth in the heptathlon with 4,674 points to earn five points for the Mountain Hawks, which finished 39th overall. Astor won the 100m hurdles along the way with a time of 14.85.

Three Mountain Hawks named to Academic All-Patriot League Team
Three student-athletes on the Lehigh women’s track and field team were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the league Friday. Senior Katherine Pierce, junior Brittany Pietrosh and junior Lauren Pietrosh each earned a spot on the 12-member team as the trio boasts at least a 3.57 GPA.

Mountain Hawks head to ECAC Championships this weekend
In its final meet of the outdoor season, the Lehigh women’s track and field team will compete at the ECAC Championships Friday through Sunday in Princeton, N.J. The Mountain Hawks will send 19 student-athletes to the meet as they will try to qualify for the NCAA Regionals and earn All-East honors. Lehigh is coming off a third place finish at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships last weekend.

For the second year in a row, the Lehigh women’s track and field team placed third at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. The Mountain Hawks had some stellar performances on the final day highlighted by two Patriot League champions. Brooke Astor won the heptathlon breaking the league record while the 4x100m relay team broke the school record en route to its victory.

Mountain Hawks in second after day one of PL Championships
The Lehigh women’s track field team completed the first day at the Patriot League Championships and currently sits in second, just three points behind first. There were some stellar performances highlighted by a broken school record by the 4X800-meter relay team. The time also marked the third fastest in Patriot League history. The final day will get underway Saturday at 11 a.m.

Mountain Hawks ready for Patriot League Championships
The Lehigh women’s track and field team will head to Worcester, Mass. this weekend to compete in the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. The Mountain Hawks have had a stellar outdoor season and will look to continue to ride that momentum into the meet they have been training for all season. Three from Lehigh honored by LVAIAW
Three Mountain Hawks were recognized Tuesday at the annual LVAIAW (Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) awards luncheon at Starters Riverport. Seniors Genna Pepe (soccer) and Katherine Pierce (track & field/cross country) were recognized within their respective sports while Julie Fernandez (softball) was named the Outstanding Athlete at Lehigh.

Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 30 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Mountain Hawks shine at Penn Relays, Lehigh Games
The Lehigh women’s track and field team had a stellar weekend as the Mountain Hawks competed at the prestigious Penn Relays and then hosted the Lehigh Games on Goodman Campus. A couple of school records were broken including one by the 4X400 relay team which took home a medal for winning its heat at the Penn Relays.

The Lehigh women’s track and field team shined in a pair of unscored meets over the weekend. At the Bucknell Outdoor Classic, Lehigh had a first-place finish and three second places including an ECAC qualifier in Jessica Kendzor. Mountain Hawks set for pair of weekend meets
Coming off a dual meet victory of rival Lafayette last weekend, the Lehigh women’s track and field team will split its squad for a pair of meets this weekend. Part of the team will head to Moravian for the 2012 Pollard Invitational on Friday and Saturday while the rest of the squad will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for Bucknell’s Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

The Lehigh women’s track and field team impressed in a dual meet at Lafayette Saturday, downing the archrival Leopards, 116-87. The Mountain Hawks won 12 events on the day to continue their success against Lafayette; it’s been two full years since the squad’s last loss to the Leopards (including indoor and outdoor).

Lehigh takes on Lafayette in dual meet Saturday
The Lehigh women’s track and field team is set to visit Lafayette this Saturday to faceoff in a dual meet with action getting underway at 12:00 p.m. Lehigh swept the indoor dual meet with Lafayette in January as the Mountain Hawks haven’t lost to the Leopards in outdoor or indoor competition since April 2010.

Lehigh wins Lafayette 7 Way Sunday
The Lehigh women’s track and field team won the Lafayette 7 Way Sunday as the Mountain Hawks posted 133 points, just two points ahead of host Lafayette. Lehigh won four events, two by Rebecca Duhamel. She placed first in the shot put and the discus throw while Alexandra Doersam won the long jump and Julia Perry won the 800-meter run.

Lehigh's success at Winthrop Invite highlighted by Astor's victory
The Lehigh women’s track and field team had some successful performances over the weekend at the Winthrop Invitational. Sophomore Brook Astor was the highlight for the Mountain Hawks as she won the heptathlon with an ECAC qualifying performance of 4,833 points. Astor won the 100m hurdles, the high jump and the 200-meter dash en route to her victory.

Mountain Hawks open spring with solid showing at Big 5 Invite
The Lehigh women’s track and field team opened up its spring season Saturday with some impressive performances at the Big 5 Invitational, hosted by Penn. E’Lana Lemon won the hammer throw with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 53.60m. Jimil Ataman placed second in the event and also qualified for ECACs with a distance of 52.87m.

The Lehigh women’s track and field teams will kick of its outdoor season Saturday at the second annual Big 5 Invitational in Philadelphia, hosted by Penn. The Mountain Hawks will compete against the likes of host Penn, Villanova, LaSalle, Temple, Columbia, and Haverford. The field portion of the invite will begin at 10:30 a.m. while the track events are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.

With the 2012 outdoor season ready to get underway, the Lehigh women’s track and field team has been picked to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll, as announced by the league Thursday. Kendzor, Perry earn All-East honors at ECAC Championships
Lehigh women’s track and field sophomore Jessica Kendzor and junior Julia Perry earned All-East honors at the ECAC Championships Sunday in Boston, Mass. Perry placed fifth in the 1,000-meter in a time of 2:51.55, a new Lehigh school record. Kendzor was eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.54 and set a school record with a time of 2:10.24 in the preliminary race.

Lehigh sending 11 to ECAC Championships
After a third-place finish at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago, the Lehigh women’s track and field team will send 11 student-athletes to compete at the ECAC Championships this weekend in Boston, Mass. The meet will get underway Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue Sunday at 1 p.m. Among the women’s qualifiers will be Jessica Kendzor and Julia Perry, both competing in three events.

Pietrosh, Pierce named to Academic All-League Team
Two student-athletes from the Lehigh women’s track and field team were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, announced Tuesday. Junior Lauren Pietrosh and senior Katherine Pierce were recognized for their work in the classroom as well as on the track. Pietrosh owns a 3.88 GPA and was a First Team All-Patriot League performer while Pierce carries a 3.57 GPA and earned Second Team honors.

Lehigh places third at Patriot League Championships
For the second straight year, the Lehigh women’s track and field team placed third at the Patriot League Championships. Lehigh had a stellar 14 All-Patriot League performances, 10 on the first team. Jessica Kendzor won three Championships, the 800m, 4x800 relay and DMR, while Julia Perry broke the school record in the mile and Savanna Plombon broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter run.

For the fourth time this season and eighth in her career, junior E’lana Lemon was named the Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Lemon placed first in the weight throw at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational on Friday with an ECAC qualifying distance of 17.22 meters. Lemon won the award three straight weeks earlier in the season.

Lehigh has stellar showing in meet prior to Championships
In its final meet before the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh women’s track and field team had some impressive results at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational at the NYC Armory. The Mountain Hawks had four first-place finishes highlighted by sophomore Jessica Kendzor’s victory in the 800-meter run. Kendzor’s time of 2:12.80 broke the school record of 2:13.23 set in 2009 by Sarah Serwo.

The Lehigh women’s track and field team will host rival Lafayette Saturday in a dual meet that is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Rauch Fieldhouse. Plombon named PL Female Rookie of the Week
Freshman Savanna Plombon has been named the Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week, as announced by the League Monday. The Frederick, Md. native placed first in the one mile run with a time of 5:03.49 and was also a member of the winning 4X800-meter relay team that finished with a time of 9:46.28. Plombon’s pair of first-place finishes helped pace Lehigh to victory at the Mountain Hawk Invite.

Lehigh wins Mountain Hawk Invite for second-straight victory
For the second straight week, the Lehigh women’s track and field team took home first place as Lehigh won the 12-team Mountain Hawk Invite. The two-day event ended Saturday with the Mountain Hawks dominating the field with 225.5 points. Lehigh had several outstanding performances including one by senior Alexandra Doersam who broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds.

A solid team effort led Lehigh women’s track & field to a first-place finish at the Army six-team meet on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks won three events (the 1,000 meter run, 4X800 meter relay and weight throw) and racked up 142 points, ahead of Monmouth in second (120.5) and Patriot League power Amy in third (96.5).

Women’s Track and Field competes at West Point Saturday
The Lehigh women’s track and field team will compete in a six-team scoring meet Saturday with events slated to begin at 11 a.m. The Mountain Hawks will compete against host Army, Monmouth, Rider, Columbia and Williams. It will be Lehigh’s third meet of the season but will be the Mountain Hawks’ first scoring event as Lehigh returns to action for the first time in over a month.
