BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s tennis team seeks its first win of the spring season Sunday as the Mountain Hawks continue their eight match home stand against Saint Francis (Pa.). The Mountain Hawks opened their home schedule with a 5-2 loss to Drexel on January 26 and are looking to rebound from an 0-2 start to their spring campaign.
Lehigh did manage to capture two points against the Dragons, as sophomore Abby Farrell posted a three-set win at No. 2 singles, while junior Jill Sloand won a third set, ten point tiebreak at No. 6 singles. The Mountain Hawks have remained limited to just six healthy players while they wait for junior Taylor Hampshire to return from injury.
Sunday’s match kicks off a busy week for the Mountain Hawks, who will also host Rutgers on Thursday and Delaware Saturday inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
Saint Francis will square off with another Patriot League team, Bucknell, on Saturday before visiting Bethlehem on Sunday. The Red Flash are 2-2 this season and have won two straight matches, downing Niagara and St. Bonaventure last weekend. Saint Francis’ two losses are to Navy and Pittsburgh.
The Mountain Hawks will be looking to avenge a tight 4-3 loss to the Red Flash last year in Bethlehem.
Sunday’s match is slated for a 10 a.m. start from the Lewis Tennis Center.
