BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh (3-10) will play it first Patriot League match of the season when it travels to Navy on Sunday to face the Midshipmen. The Mountain Hawks have been on a bit of a hot streak lately as they’ve won two of their last three matches after a 1-9 start.
Lehigh won its most recent outing last week in downing Loyola (Md.) 4-3 on the Ulrich Varsity Courts. The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles matches and won three of its singles matches to clinch the victory. It was a stellar day for sophomore Jenai Bilimoria and freshman Abby Farrell as both teamed to win their doubles match in addition to winning their singles matches. Bilimoria and Farrell have won two of their last three singles matches. Freshman Emily Bruch joined the two in the singles win column as she picked up a win at No. 6 singles in her first singles appearance of the season.
Navy (16-1, 2-0 PL) has been on a tear this season after falling just short of a Patriot League championship last season. The Midshipmen won their first 11 matches of the season and come into this weekend’s match on a five-match winning streak.
Lehigh will be looking for revenge after dropping last year’s meeting between the two teams, 7-0. The Mountain Hawks will also be looking for their first road win of the season after dropping their first two road matches this season. The team’s last road victory came last year in the regular season finale against Lafayette.
Sunday’s match begins at 10 a.m. from Annapolis, Md. Lehigh will then return home for two league matches next week as the Mountain Hawks will face defending league champion Army on Thursday and Colgate on Saturday. The Army match was recently moved from Friday to Thursday.
