Lehigh welcomes Stony Brook, Albany to close out long home stand

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh will look to end its three-match losing streak when the Mountain Hawks host a pair of weekend matches against Stony Brook and Albany. The matches will conclude the team’s nine-match season opening home stand. Lehigh hopes to get back on the winning track, while garnering momentum before heading on the road next week.
The Mountain Hawks suffered a pair of 6-1 losses last weekend against Towson and Drexel. In its most recent match against Drexel, Lehigh was swept in all three doubles matches. The team’s lone bright spot came in singles play when freshman Abby Farrell won her match at the No. 3 flight.
The victory continued a solid start to Farrell’s season as she is one of two team members to post three singles victories thus far. Sophomore Jenai Bilimoria is the other. Sophomore Taylor Hampshire is one of four Mountain Hawks who have yet to post a singles victory this season, but the Mountain Hawks have been competing hard against strong scholarship opponents.
Stony Brook enters the weekend with a 2-2 record. It will be the Seawolves’ first match in nearly two weeks as they defeated Connecticut, 7-0, back on February 11. The Seawolves have been solid in singles play thus far four team members have posted at least 10 wins.
Albany has enjoyed a solid start to its season as the Danes have compiled a 5-2 record. The Great Danes have won four of their last five and their current two-match winning streak includes wins against Colgate and Siena.
Lehigh’s match against Stony Brook will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. The team will play Albany on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both matches will take place inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
