In its 2012 spring season opener, the Lehigh women’s tennis team fell 7-0 to a very tough Rutgers squad Thursday afternoon inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Scarlet Knights, out of the Big East conference, swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in the season opener for both teams.
The Lehigh women’s tennis team will open its season on Thursday against Rutgers inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The squad is seeking redemption after last season’s disappointing 6-13 record. With a number of younger players getting accustomed to college tennis, the Mountain Hawks’ 2011 season ended with a 4-3 loss to Colgate in the Patriot League quarterfinals.
As the Lehigh women’s tennis team gets set for its season opener against Rutgers, the Patriot League released is preseason poll. The squad was picked to finish fourth with 40 points in a poll voted on by the league’s coaches and sports information directors.
In its final action of the fall season, the Lehigh women’s tennis team hosted the three-day Lehigh Fall Invitational, which wrapped Sunday on the Goodman Campus. The event gave Lehigh an opportunity to get its younger players some much-needed experience while trying out various doubles teams.
The Lehigh women’s tennis team will get its final work in for the fall season this weekend as the Mountain Hawks welcome four teams to the Goodman Campus for the three-day Lehigh Tennis Invitational, beginning Friday afternoon.
