BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior diver Daniela Sonderegger was one of 11 female swimmers and divers named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, announced Monday. The Costa Rica native is a political science major with a 3.71 cumulative grade point average. She has been a Dean’s List student in multiple semesters and last summer was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Sonderegger showcased her athletic talent at the Patriot League Championships when she scored 16 points for Lehigh, reaching the finals in the one meter competition, finishing eighth, and placing 12th overall in the three meter event. She came on strong at the end of the season, leading the Mountain Hawks in their final meet of the season, with the top score in the one and three meter events versus Saint Francis, Pa.
Navy junior Laura Gorinski was a repeat winner of the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award as voted by the league’s sports information directors, who cannot vote for their own student-athletes.

To be considered for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or a key contributor in his or her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Last week freshman Alissa Leung and junior Emily DiDonato were named to the All-Patriot League teams for their in-pool performance at the league championships.
Sonderegger is the first member of the Lehigh women’s swimming and diving program to be named to the Academic All-Patriot League team since the team’s inception last year.
