Mountain Hawks open up action at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Lehigh opened up action at the Princeton Invitational Friday evening at DeNunzio Pool. The two-day invitational began with five women’s swimming events and the three-meter diving competition as Lehigh competed against Georgetown, TCNJ and a very strong host Tiger squad.
 
Three individual events were contested on Friday with freshman Alissa Leung turning in the top finish for the Mountain Hawks as she came in seventh in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:11.14. Leung was followed by freshman Kim Weyand (11th), senior Priscilla Barletta (13th) and freshman Mary Samuels (14th) to place four in the top 15.  
 
In the 500 free senior Alyssa Siano placed tenth with a time of 5:18.72 with sophomore Giovanna Patafio finishing right behind her in 11th place. Senior Paola Simon took tenth in the 50 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 25.10. Freshman Taylor Wise finished 13th.
 
In the relays, Lehigh posted a fourth place finish in the 200 free relay, as Simon, Wise, sophomore Stephanie Yaszemski, and junior Katie Haycraft placed fourth with a time of 1:42.85. The Mountain Hawks took third, fifth and ninth in the 400 medley relay with junior Emily DiDonato joining Leung, Barletta and Simon placing third at 4:02.37.
Action at the Princeton Invitational wraps up Saturday from DeNunzio Pool.
