Lehigh held its annual Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall Fame banquet and induction ceremony Saturday. Volleyball standout Kim (Freedman) Kellow ’99 was inducted from he class of 2011, while former swimming coach and director of admissions Bruce Gardiner and University Board of Trustees chairman and former lacrosse player Dan Smith ’71 were inducted as part of a special election process.
The swimming and diving program hosted its annual year-end banquet last Sunday, March 25th, at the Wood Dining Room in Iacocca Hall on Lehigh’s Mountaintop Campus. The luncheon is held to celebrate the year’s successes and to recognize outstanding student-athletes with annual program and team awards. The afternoon also featured remarks from head coach Rob Herb and several student-athletes.
Lehigh junior diver Daniela Sonderegger was one of 11 female swimmers and divers named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, announced Monday. The Costa Rica native is a political science major with a 3.71 cumulative grade point average. She has been a Dean’s List student in multiple semesters and last summer was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
On the heels of its fifth place showing at last week’s Patriot League Championships the Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team placed two student-athletes on the All-Patriot League teams announced Wednesday. Freshman Alissa Leung was named to the first team after setting two school records, while junior Emily DiDonato earned second team laurels behind a pair of top five individual finishes.
Four Mountain Hawks posted top eight individual finishes as the Lehigh swimming and diving team wrapped up action at the Patriot League Championships, which concluded Saturday night at Navy’s Lejeune Hall. Freshman Alissa Leung set her second school record in as many days as the Mountain Hawks finished fifth overall with 317.5 points.
