Stephen Ferreira enters his third season as the diving coach for the Lehigh swimming and diving program. Ferreira came to Lehigh in 2010 after a standout diving career at the University of Connecticut, where he was a four-year letter winner and four-time Big East championship qualifier.
Last season, Ferreira helped guide former walk-on Connor Styles to second team All-Patriot League honors. Styles also became the first Mountain Hawk diver to compete at the NCAA Zone “A” Diving meet in march.
In 2010-11 Ferreira mentored a group of five divers, including Lehigh’s three male divers, who all scored at the Patriot League Championships.
In his senior season, Ferreira was an All-Big East selection for the Huskies. Ferreira won the NCAA Zone Diving championship on the three meter board and qualified for the NCAA Championship meet in both the one and three meter events. He was named UConn’s Most Outstanding Diver in 2010 and also earned his program’s Scholar-Athlete award.
Ferreira has coached at diving camps at Penn State and Indiana. He will work closely with Lehigh’s three male and two female divers.
A Big East Academic All-Star for his work in the classroom, Ferreira earned his degree from Connecticut in 2010. The Madison, Connecticut native will be pursuing his masters degree in analytical finance at Lehigh.
