Second-half goals lead Seton Hall past Lehigh, 2-0
Seton Hall scored two goals in a 2:36 span midway through the second half to break a scoreless tie as the Pirates (3-0-0) spoiled Lehigh’s season opener, 2-0 on Friday. Sophomore Ashley Blanks was stellar in goal, making a career-high 13 saves in goal to keep the Mountain Hawks (0-1-0) close. Lehigh will face its second straight Big East foe next Friday (Aug. 31) when it travels to Providence.

Lehigh kicks off season Friday vs. Seton Hall
The Lehigh women’s soccer team kicks off the 2012-13 Lehigh Athletics season on Friday when the squad welcomes Seton Hall to the Ulrich Sports Complex. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in Lehigh’s opener last year. The Mountain Hawks are looking to make it back to the Patriot League Tournament, where they won their first league championship in 2010.

Lehigh Athletics season, fall broadcast schedule to begin Friday
With the fall season set to get underway on Friday, Lehigh Athletics has announced its fall broadcast schedule. For the third straight year Lehigh has partnered with Stretch Internet to deliver fans live action via the Lehigh GameCentral portal. Most men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, and volleyball home contests will be broadcast live on the Lehigh web site as part of the GameCentral pay-per-view offering.

Season Preview: Mountain Hawks look to rebound in 2012
Despite finishing short of its goals, the 2011 Lehigh women’s soccer season didn’t lack excitement. One year after winning their first Patriot League Championship, the Mountain Hawks fell just short of the Patriot League Tournament. However, Lehigh was in it until the end, tying eventual league champ Army while defeating finalist Navy. Lehigh proved it could play with the best in the Patriot League.

Mountain Hawks open preseason practice
The Lehigh women’s soccer team kicked off preseason practice earlier this week, as the Mountain Hawks continue to prepare for their season opener next Friday (Aug. 24) vs. Seton Hall. Monday featured conditioning before holding their first practice on a rainy Tuesday morning. A young roster features seven freshmen and six sophomores, along with six juniors and four seniors.

Lehigh picked fifth in preseason women’s soccer poll
The Lehigh women’s soccer team has been picked fifth in the Patriot League preseason poll, as announced on Tuesday. The Mountain Hawks are eying their second league tournament appearance in the last three seasons where they hope to replicate 2010 when they defeated Bucknell and host Army to capture their first Patriot League crown.

Li and Greeley named 2012 women’s soccer captains
Senior Isabelle Li and junior Murphee Greeley have been named Lehigh women’s soccer captains, as announced by head coach Eric Lambinus on Wednesday. The duo looks to lead the Mountain Hawks back to the Patriot League Tournament, where they won the league title just two seasons ago.

Lum and Basubas garner Leadership and Character Awards
Recently graduated Chris Lum of football and Jana Basubas of women’s soccer have been named the inaugural Leadership and Character Award Winners, as announced by the Patriot League on Monday. The awards were chosen in a vote by the league’s senior woman administrators.

Record 11 Mountain Hawks named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
A record 11 Lehigh student-athletes were recently recognized as recipients of the 2012 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award as named earlier this week by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Eight different Lehigh athletic programs are represented, including men’s and women’s cross country and track and field, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, women’s swimming and diving, women’s soccer and softball.

Lehigh women’s soccer unveils 2012 schedule
Lehigh head women’s soccer coach Eric Lambinus announced the team’s 2012 schedule on Wednesday, featuring 17 games including three against defending NCAA Tournament squads. The Mountain Hawks play 10 nonleague games and seven league contests, including the final three of the regular season. Lehigh looks to qualify for the Patriot League Tournament and compete for its second league championship in the last three years.

Women's soccer wraps up successful spring campaign
The Lehigh women’s soccer team recently wrapped up a strong spring campaign with its eyes set on next fall. A young Mountain Hawks’ squad played neck-and-neck with strong competition, picking up some big victories, including a shutout of St. John’s out of the Big East. Lehigh is looking to build off a 2011 season which saw it tie eventual Patriot League Champion Army and tie runner-up Navy, without giving up a goal to either side.

Three from Lehigh honored by LVAIAW
Three Mountain Hawks were recognized Tuesday at the annual LVAIAW (Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) awards luncheon at Starters Riverport. Seniors Genna Pepe (soccer) and Katherine Pierce (track & field/cross country) were recognized within their respective sports while Julie Fernandez (softball) was named the Outstanding Athlete at Lehigh.

Lehigh celebrates 2011-12 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 30 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Lehigh excited for spring schedule
The Lehigh women’s soccer team will play a competitive five-game spring slate which kicks off on Saturday, Mar. 24 at Rider. The Mountain Hawks will then head home for three games at the Ulrich Sports Complex before their Alumni Game on Apr. 21. Lehigh finished 6-9-2 in 2011, but did have its highlights, which included a tie against eventual Patriot League Champion Army and win over league finalist Navy.

Women’s soccer hosting alumni game April 21
The Lehigh women's soccer team will host its alumni soccer game on April 21 at Ulrich Sports Complex at 1 p.m. The game will be followed by a dinner reception at the Gander Room (above the Goose) at 5:30 p.m. The reception is for current players, soccer alumni, and immediate family. There is no cost.

Women’s soccer announces 2016 recruiting class
Lehigh women’s soccer head coach Eric Lambinus announced the team’s incoming class of 2016, which consists of seven student-athletes from five different states including California, New Mexico, New York, Michigan and Tennessee. The class also features a diverse group of talent, with multiple defenders and midfielders along with a goalkeeper.

Seventeen from women’s soccer named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
Lehigh women’s soccer placed 17 student-athletes on the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks earned success on and off the field in 2011, earning wins over Patriot League Champion Army and finalist Navy. They also sustained excellence in the classroom, led by senior Jana Basubas who was named Academic All-Patriot League while being named a Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award candidate.

Lehigh hands out awards at annual team banquet
The Lehigh women’s soccer team celebrated a strong 2011 season with is annual banquet on Sunday, Jan. 15, in the University Center. It was a chance for players and coaches to reflect on a season that featured a win over Patriot League finalist Navy and tie versus eventual league champion Army, along with a number of individual accolades. Three prestigious awards were also presented to team members who displayed excellence, both on and off the field.
