Mountain Hawks once again garner NWCA academic honors
In addition to another successful season on the mats, the Lehigh wrestling program was recognized for its work in the classroom as the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced its All-Academic Individuals and top 30 teams late Monday. The Mountain Hawks tied for sixth in the country with a 3.23 team GPA, while seniors Robert Hamlin and Shane Welsh and junior Joey Napoli were named to the individual All-Academic Team.

Santoro welcomes six newcomers to Lehigh wrestling program
Lehigh head coach Pat Santoro has announced the addition of six student-athletes, who will join the Mountain Hawks’ wrestling program in the fall. Six states are represented among the incoming class, which features three grapplers who project at 125 pounds. In addition, two of the six incoming wrestlers are siblings of current Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh celebrates 2012-13 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 29 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, recognition of student-athlete winners of Lehigh University awards and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Lehigh reflects on season at 90th Lewis Wrestling Dinner
The Lehigh wrestling program looked back on an impressive season Saturday at the 90th annual Lewis Wrestling Dinner, held in the Wood Dining Room in Iacocca Hall on Lehigh’s Mountaintop Campus. Close to 200 wrestlers, coaches, families and supporters of Lehigh wrestling were on hand for the dinner, which featured highlights from the 2012-13 season and remarks from head coach Pat Santoro and Lehigh’s six seniors.

Three-time All-American Hamlin falls in bid for NCAA title
Lehigh senior Robert Hamlin fell short in his bid to win a NCAA title as the Mountain Hawks’ three-time All-American dropped a 12-4 major decision to Ed Ruth of Penn State in the 184 pound finals of the NCAA Wrestling Championships Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Hamlin downs Bennett 3-2 to punch return ticket to NCAA Finals
For the second time in three years, Lehigh’s Robert Hamlin is headed to the NCAA finals as the Mountain Hawks’ three-time All-American defeated Ben Bennett of Central Michigan 3-2 in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. A first period takedown was the difference for Hamlin, who will face No. 1 seed Ed Ruth of Penn State in Saturday’s finals.

Hamlin advances to NCAA semis, becomes three-time All-American
Senior Robert Hamlin is Lehigh’s last man standing at the NCAA Wrestling Championships as he became a three-time All-American and three-time semifinalist with a 2-1 quarterfinal win over Ryan Loder of Northern Iowa. Hamlin will wrestle rival Ben Bennett of Central Michigan in Friday night’s semifinal round.

Lehigh advances three to day two of NCAA Championships
Lehigh senior Robert Hamlin won a 6-3 decision over Dan Rinaldi of Rutgers to reach the quarterfinals for the third straight year as the Mountain Hawks wrapped-up day one of the NCAA Championships Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena. Freshman Randy Cruz and sophomore Nathaniel Brown joined Hamlin in advancing to Friday’s second day of action.

Cruz, Hamlin win; two seeds upset in opening session of NCAAs
Freshman Randy Cruz and senior Robert Hamlin posted victories to lead Lehigh in the opening session of the NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena. The Mountain Hawks went 2-3 in Thursday’s afternoon session with two of Lehigh’s three seeded wrestlers falling victim to opening round upsets.

Mountain Hawks head to Iowa for NCAA Championships
Lehigh’s five qualifiers head to Iowa for the 83rd NCAA wrestling championships at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, as the national tournament returns to Iowa for the first time since 2001. The Mountain Hawks have returned to the national spotlight with back-to-back eighth place finishes at the last two NCAA championships.

Three of Lehigh's five qualifiers earn seeds as NCAA brackets announced
Seeds and brackets for the upcoming NCAA Championships were announced Wednesday evening with three Lehigh wrestlers earning top 12 seeds for the national tournament March 21-23 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Senior Robert Hamlin and junior Joey Napoli both earned No. 3 seeds at 184 and 157 respectively, while sophomore Nathaniel Brown is seeded ninth at 174.

Mountain Hawks claim three titles, finish fourth at EIWAs
Despite the absence of its two senior leaders, the Lehigh wrestling team enjoyed a strong finish Saturday as the EIWA Championships wrapped-up at the RAC. Freshman Randy Cruz, junior Joey Napoli and sophomore Nathaniel Brown all won individual EIWA titles as the Mountain Hawks finished in fourth place with 101.5 points.

Three Lehigh wrestlers will compete for EIWA titles on Saturday as day one of the 109th EIWA Championships wrapped up Friday night at the RAC. Lehigh sends five wrestlers to EIWA semifinals
Five Lehigh wrestlers reached Friday night’s semifinals as the Mountain Hawks opened up action at the 109th EIWA Championships at the RAC. Senior Robert Hamlin, sophomore Nathaniel Brown and freshmen Randy Cruz and John Bolich all went 2-0 in the first session, with Hamlin and Cruz recording pins. Junior Joey Napoli won his only match to reach the semifinals as well.

Nine Mountain Hawks earn seeds as EIWA brackets unveiled
Seeds and brackets for the 109th EIWA Championships were announced Thursday evening following a meeting of the conference’s head coaches. Nine of Lehigh’s tournament entrants were seeded in the top eight, with five of those nine Mountain Hawks earning top two seeds. Seven Mountain Hawks will compete in the opening round while three received first-round byes.

Mountain Hawks head to Rutgers for 109th EIWA Championships
Lehigh joins the other 13 EIWA member institutions in Piscataway, N.J. for the 109th EIWA Championships, hosted by Rutgers. The EIWA is the nation’s oldest wrestling conference, with Lehigh being the historically dominant team, having won 200 individual titles and 34 team championships. Lehigh has finished second in three of the last four tournaments, falling just 2.5 points short of Cornell last year.

Minotti, Riddick capture titles to lead Lehigh at NCO Sunday
Freshmen Mitch Minotti and Elliot Riddick claimed titles to lead a contingent of 11 Lehigh wrestlers who competed in the National Collegiate Open Sunday in Richmond, Va. Minotti and Riddick were two of our Mountain Hawks who placed in the top six of their respective weight classes on the day.

Lehigh finishes dual season strong with 31-9 win at Bucknell
The Lehigh wrestling team closed out its dual meet season with an impressive 31-9 win over Bucknell Friday night at Davis Gym. The Mountain Hawks won eight bouts including four wins by major decision to finish the dual season with a 10-7. Lehigh has now won at least 10 dual meets in 14 consecutive seasons.

Mountain Hawks head to Bucknell to close out dual meet season
The Lehigh wrestling team heads to Lewisburg, Pa. for its final dual meet of the regular season as the Mountain Hawks square off against the Bucknell Bison Friday night. The Mountain Hawks have won their last three duals to keep hope alive for a ten dual win season. Last weekend Lehigh went 2-0 in western Pennsylvania, downing No. 14 Pittsburgh 22-14 on Friday before routing Clarion 39-9 on Saturday.

Hamlin nabs 100th win as Lehigh pounds Clarion 39-9
Senior Robert Hamlin picked up his 100th career victory as the Lehigh wrestling team completed a 2-0 weekend in western Pennsylvania with a 39-9 win over Clarion at Tippin Gym. Hamlin’s pin was one of three falls for the Mountain Hawk, as freshman Randy Cruz and sophomore Anthony Salupo also posted pins to pace the Mountain Hawks, who improve to 9-7 on the season.
