Santoro adds 15 in one of nation's top recruiting classes
Coming off back-to-back top ten finishes at the NCAA Championships, Lehigh head coach Pat Santoro has announced the addition of 15 student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks’ wrestling program in the fall. Although large in number, this incoming class comes in with a lengthy list of accomplishments, which should complement the talent in Lehigh’s room.

Hamlin earns Academic All-District At-Large honors
Lehigh wrestling junior Robert Hamlin has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II At-Large team, it was announced Friday. A two-time EIWA Champion and All-American on the mats, Hamlin is also one of the strongest Mountain Hawks academically, as he becomes Lehigh’s first wrestling Academic All-District selection since Brad Dillon in 2004.

Lehigh wrestlers garner academic honors from NWCA
On the heels of another successful season on the mats, the Lehigh wrestling program was recognized for its academic work as the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced its All-Academic Individuals and top 30 teams on Tuesday. The Mountain Hawks ranked ninth in the country with a 3.18 team GPA, while seniors Brian Tanen and Zach Rey and juniors Robert Hamlin and Shane Welsh were named to the individual All-Academic Team.

Lehigh celebrates 2011-12 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 30 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Lehigh reflects on successful season at annual Lewis Dinner
The Lehigh wrestling program looked back on an impressive season on Saturday at the 89th annual Lewis Wrestling Dinner, held in the Wood Dining Room in Iacocca Hall on Lehigh’s Mountaintop Campus. The dinner, held for the team, coaches, families, faculty and friends of Lehigh wrestling featured a highlight video and remarks from head coach Pat Santoro and Lehigh’s seven seniors.

Mountain Hawks finish eighth at NCAA Championships
A strong overall NCAA tournament for Lehigh ended on a bittersweet note as seniors Brandon Hatchett and Zach Rey were denied national championships after losing in the national finals Saturday night at Scottrade Center. Hatchett lost by technical fall to David Taylor of Penn State, while Rey gave up a late takedown to drop a 4-1 decision to Tony Nelson of Minnesota.

Hamlin, Kennedy wrap-up All-America campaigns Saturday morning
Lehigh junior Robert Hamlin and senior Joe Kennedy cemented their All-American statuses by competing in the medal rounds at the NCAA Championships Saturday at Scottrade Center. Hamlin won his first match of the day but had to settle for fourth place at 184 following an overtime loss, while Kennedy also fell in overtime and had to settle for eighth place at 197.

Hatchett, Rey to wrestle for NCAA titles Saturday night
Seniors Brandon Hatchett and Zach Rey will wrestle for national championships Saturday evening as both Mountain Hawks posted wins in the semifinal round of the NCAA Championships Friday night at Scottrade Center. Hatchett won a 5-4 decision over Josh Asper of Maryland at 165, while Rey defeated rival Ryan Flores of American 6-2 and will defend his heavyweight title.

Trio of Hatchett, Hamlin, Rey reach semis; earn All-American honors
Three Lehigh wrestlers advanced to the semifinals as the Mountain Hawks moved into the top ten in the team standings with a strong showing in session three of the NCAA Championships, Friday morning at Scottrade Center. Returning All-Americans Brandon Hatchett, Robert Hamlin and Zach Rey all won quarterfinal bouts to repeat as All-Americans.

Lehigh places three in quarters; tied for ninth after first day of NCAA Championships
All three of Lehigh’s returning All-Americans advanced to Friday’s quarterfinals as the Mountain Hawks completed day one of the NCAA Championships Thursday at Scottrade Center. Brandon Hatchett, Robert Hamlin and Zach Rey all remain alive in the championship bracket while four of Lehigh’s other five qualifiers advanced to day two and are alive in the consolations.

Four seeded Mountain Hawks advance in session one of NCAAs
All four of Lehigh’s seeded wrestlers advanced to the round of 16 as the Mountain Hawks opened up action at the NCAA Championships Thursday at Scottrade Center. Senior Brandon Hatchett and junior Robert Hamlin recorded major decision wins for Lehigh, but all four of the Mountain Hawks unseeded wrestlers came up short in their first round matches.

Lehigh wrestlers look to finish season strong at NCAA Championships
The NCAA Wrestling Championships return to St. Louis for the first time since 2009 as Lehigh sends eight wrestlers to Scottrade Center for the 82nd edition of the national tournament. The Mountain Hawks returned to the national spotlight at last year’s championships with two finalists, three All-Americans and Lehigh’s first top ten team finish since 2006. All three All-Americans return for Lehigh, including defending NCAA heavyweight champion Zach Rey and 184-pound finalist Robert Hamlin.

Four Mountain Hawks earn seeds for NCAA Championships
Four Lehigh wrestlers earned top-12 seeds in the upcoming NCAA tournament as the seeds and brackets for the championships, set for March 15-17 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, were announced Wednesday. Junior Robert Hamlin earned the highest seed for the Mountain Hawks, who qualified nine men and will send a total of eight to nationals.

Lehigh crowns three champs; falls 2.5 points short of EIWA title
After entering day two of the EIWA Championships 17.5 points behind Cornell, Lehigh battled back into title contention. The Mountain Hawks won their first three finals bouts, to take the lead, but the Big Red regained the lead Lehigh had to settle for second place by a mere 2.5 points, as Cornell won its sixth straight tile 151.5-149 Sunday at Jadwin Gym.

Lehigh sends four to EIWA finals; sits in second after day one
With its three returning All-Americans leading the charge, Lehigh advanced four wrestlers to the finals of the 108th EIWA Championships, capping a strong performance on day one at Princeton’s Jadwin Gym. Senior Brandon Hatchett, junior Robert Hamlin and senior Zach Rey are joined in the finals by upstart junior Shane Welsh, who advanced to the finals at 149 from the No. 6 seed.

Seeds, brackets announced for 108th EIWA Championships
Seeds and brackets for the 108th EIWA Championships were announced Friday night following a meeting of the conference’s head coaches. Eight of Lehigh’s ten entrants were seeded in the top eight, with seven of those eight Mountain Hawks earning top three seeds. Eight Mountain Hawks will compete in the opening round while two received first-round byes.

Mountain Hawks head to Princeton for 108th EIWA Championships
Lehigh joins the other 13 EIWA member institutions in Princeton, N.J. for the 108th EIWA Championships, hosted by Princeton at Jadwin Gym. The EIWA is the nation’s oldest wrestling conference, with Lehigh being the historically dominant team, having won 197 individual titles and 34 team championships. Lehigh finished second at last year’s tournament and will look to win its first team title since 2006.

Kennedy, Rey go out with pins as No. 15 Lehigh drubs Princeton
No. 15 Lehigh closed out the dual meet season in style, winning nine of ten bouts in a 38-4 rout of Princeton Saturday night inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. On a night when Lehigh recognized its seven seniors, Joe Kennedy and Zach Rey closed out the match with back-to-back falls, as the Mountain Hawks scored bonus points in six of their wins. Lehigh finishes the dual season at 12-5 overall, 7-1 against EIWA opponents.

Lehigh pounds Harvard to cap successful weekend in New England
No. 15 Lehigh completed a dominant performance on its weekend trip to New England as the Mountain Hawks rolled past Harvard 40-6 Sunday at the Malkin Athletic Center. The Mountain Hawks won nine matches for the second straight day, and posted seven bonus wins. Senior Zach Rey won by major decision to become Lehigh’s career leader in dual meet victories.
