Posted: 04/27/2011
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women’s lacrosse sophomore Anna Patterson has been named to the first-ever Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced on Wednesday. Patterson joins 11 other student-athletes from around the league on the squad. Patterson has impressed on and off the field, posting 28 points while holding a strong 3.65 GPA in Sociology/Social Psychology.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

Patterson has enjoyed tremendous success in the classroom, receiving the Faculty Athletics Council Academic Award in 2010 and ’11 and cracking the Dean’s List each and every semester. She has been a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recipient as well.

On the field, Patterson has recorded a career-high 28 points (21 goals, eight assists), this after posting 23 as a freshman. For the season, she owns a stellar .724 shooting percentage, converting 29 shots into her 21 goals. Patterson has reached double-digit points on six occasions, which includes two hat tricks. The first came at Temple where she set a career high with five points (three goals, two assists). She later added three goals as part of a key 13-6 league win over American.
Lehigh’s win over Navy gave the Mountain Hawks a share of the Regular Season Title for a second straight season. However, due to a 19-16 loss against Colgate last month, the Raiders will host the entire Patriot League Tournament, which begins with the semifinals on Thursday. Lehigh will enter as the No. 2 seed and rematch with No. 3 Navy in the second game of the day at 7 p.m. following No. 1 Colgate versus No. 4 American at 4 p.m. The championship game will take place on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 3 p.m. and will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
