Redfern unveils 2013 Lehigh women’s lacrosse schedule
Lehigh head women’s lacrosse coach Jill Redfern released the Mountain Hawks’ 2013 schedule on Wednesday which features games against four teams who finished in the top 16 of last season’s final RPI. Lehigh will play 16 regular season games, nine at home and seven on the road. In total, the Mountain Hawks will face four squads (Florida, Navy, Penn and Penn State) who advanced to the 2012 NCAA tournament.

Lehigh women’s lacrosse to host open house for 2015 graduates
Lehigh women’s lacrosse has announced the schedule for the Class of 2015 Open House set for Sunday, Jan. 27 from 3:30-5 p.m. The event will include a tour of campus, an information session and Q&A led by the Lehigh coaching staff.

Women’s lax featured on Lehigh Sports Magazine television show
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team was featured on the Lehigh Sports Magazine television show on Monday, Oct. 1. Anna Patterson: changing the world
Lehigh women’s lacrosse senior Anna Patterson had the experience of a lifetime this summer, following in the footsteps of fellow Mountain Hawks Erica Prosser (women's basketball), Jessica Miller (field hockey), Angelo DiGiacinto (men's swimming) and Liz Lucas (softball) who all traveled abroad with SALSC over the past three years. Patterson was Lehigh’s lone representative on this year’s community service trip to Kenya where the group members aided in building a school.

Women’s lacrosse announces upcoming fall schedule
Lehigh head women’s lacrosse coach Jill Redfern announced the team’s fall schedule on Monday, which includes four tournaments beginning with a home tournament on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Mountain Hawks will play more than 10 games in a span of 29 days against a variety of top competition, including Johns Hopkins, Duke, Georgetown and more.

McHugh named new women’s lacrosse assistant coach
Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern announced the addition of Shannon McHugh to the team’s coaching staff on Thursday. McHugh wrapped up a sensational four-year career at Cornell last spring where she earned 2012 All-Ivy League honors. The four-year starting midfielder will join Redfern and associate head coach Kelley Necioglu on the Mountain Hawks’ sidelines.

Women’s lacrosse to host September Spectacular
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team is hosting a September Spectacular 6 vs. 6 Clinic/Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 16. For girls grades 9-12, the clinic will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Individuals and teams are welcome; a minimum of six field players plus a goalkeeper is required.

Lehigh earns IWLCA Academic Team Award
Following another strong season in the classroom, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team earned a 2012 IWLCA Academic Team Award, as announced on Monday. The Mountain Hawks were one of four Patriot League teams honored, along with American, Holy Cross and Lafayette while 42 teams in the nation made the cut. To qualify, schools had to achieve a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or above for the 2011-12 academic year.

Sukonik named Jewish Sports Review Collegiate Lacrosse All-American
Lehigh women’s lacrosse rising sophomore Carli Sukonik has been named to the Jewish Sports Review Collegiate Lacrosse All-America List, as recently announced. Sukonik enjoyed a standout freshman campaign, posting a team-high 41 goals, 47 points, 89 shots and 65 shots on goal. The Second Team All-Patriot League honoree finished with seven hat tricks, 10 multi-goal games and 11 multi-point games.

Record 11 Mountain Hawks named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
A record 11 Lehigh student-athletes were recently recognized as recipients of the 2012 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award as named earlier this week by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Eight different Lehigh athletic programs are represented, including men’s and women’s cross country and track and field, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, women’s swimming and diving, women’s soccer and softball.

Women's Lacrosse welcomes nine in class of 2016

Lehigh places 93 women on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
As part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the Patriot League announced all seven of its women’s winter/spring Academic Honor Rolls on Wednesday. Lehigh was well represented as the Mountain Hawks accounted for 93 of the over 650 women’s student-athletes named to the honor roll.

Mountain Hawks place 14 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team placed 14 members on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll released Wednesday. Leading the way was freshman Emily Solenberger, who posted a 3.84 GPA this past spring, heading five Mountain Hawks with semester GPAs of 3.80 or higher.

Torcivia impresses in North-South All-Star Game
Recently graduated Lehigh women’s lacrosse standout Leigh Ann Torcivia impressed for the North in the annual IWLCA North-South Game played Saturday at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. Torcivia had a pair of groundballs and caused turnovers, playing multiple positions for the North squad, which fell 8-5. The four-time All-Patriot League honoree was Lehigh’s second participant in as many seasons after Lauren Dykstra earned Game MVP honors last year.

Torcivia selected for IWLCA North-South All-Star Game
Lehigh women’s lacrosse senior Leigh Ann Torcivia has been selected for the prestigious IWLCA North-South Game set for Saturday, June 16, which features the nation’s top senior student-athletes. Torcivia will suit up for the North at the Champions’ Cup, held at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. This marks the second straight season the Mountain Hawks have been represented as Lauren Dykstra earned Game MVP honors a year ago.

Torcivia named Academic All-Patriot League
Lehigh senior midfielder Leigh Ann Torcivia has earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for her stellar work on the field and in the classroom. One of only six student-athletes named First Team All-League and Academic All-League, Torcivia was the team’s 2011 Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient. On the field, she finished second on the team with 44 points (24 goals, team-leading 20 assists) this past season.

Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia garnered First Team honors while junior Julie McBrien and freshman Carli Sukonik earned Second Team laurels. Mountain Hawks drop season finale to Navy
The Navy women’s lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and wouldn’t look back in downing Lehigh, 14-4 on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks (7-9, 2-3 Patriot League) were led by Carli Sukonik who rounded out her freshman season with her seventh-career hat trick. It was also Senior Day as Lauren Murray, Anna Pierce and Leigh Ann Torcivia were all honored prior to their finals games in the Brown and White.

The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will host the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday in its season finale. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Family Influence: Leigh Ann Torcivia Feature
Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia wanted to play soccer in college; playing lacrosse wasn’t even in her mind. Ultimately, the New Jersey native came to Lehigh, which has deep family routes. Her aunt Bonnie, a former Lehigh lacrosse and field hockey player herself, was a big influence in Leigh Ann even playing lacrosse, never mind developing into an All-Patriot League player.

Comeback falls short in 10-7 loss to Holy Cross
Trailing 6-2 at the half, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team scored five of the first seven second-half goals to pull within one, but couldn’t get any closer as Holy Cross tacked on the final two to win, 10-7 on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks (7-8, 2-3 Patriot League) gave up five goals in the first 15:39, but the defense was stingy from that point forward, allowing only one over the next 25:45 which allowed the offense to make a run.

The win marks the Mountain Hawks’ fifth in their last seven games to improve to 7-6 on the season. Mountain Hawks hold off rival Leopards 13-10
Seniors Leigh Ann Torcivia and Lauren Murray combined for seven goals and the defense tightened up in the second half as Lehigh evened its season record with a 13-10 win over rival Lafayette Saturday night at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks led for a vast majority of the game, but never led by more than three goals. With solid ball control in the final minutes Lehigh held on for the win to move to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in league games.

The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team defeated Binghamton 17-10 Wednesday behind freshman Carli Sukonik’s career-high eight goals. Senior Kelly Draper had three goals and three assists while senior Lauren Murray added three goals and two assists. Sukonik’s goals tied her season total and were the highest goal output by a Mountain Hawk since Lauren Dykstra had eight on March 21, 2009 vs. American.

The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team hung tough against the #2 nationally ranked Tar Heels, trailing by only two at the half before North Carolina (7-0) exploded in the second to down the Mountain Hawks (2-3), 16-8, on Tuesday. Lehigh stayed within two for the entire first half before the explosive UNC offense caught fire. The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team fell into a quick hole and couldn’t recover, dropping a 14-5 final to Temple on a chilly Thursday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks (1-2) went down 10-1 late in the first half, but regrouped to play the Owls (4-0) even the rest of the way as the Lehigh defense held Temple scoreless over the game’s final 21:19. Lehigh wins season opener, 8-5 over Marist
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead before holding off a Marist charge to win its season-opener, 8-5 on Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes pulled as close as 6-5 with less than 10 minutes remaining, but the Mountain Hawks added two late insurance goals to erase any doubt. Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia shattered her career-high with five points via two goals and three assists in the victory.

Lehigh welcomes Marist for season opener Saturday
The women’s lacrosse team will open the 2012 season this weekend, hosting Marist on Saturday. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. in the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Red Foxes in last year’s opener on their way to a 10-7 record and their fifth-straight Patriot League Tournament appearance.

Lehigh picked third in preseason poll, Torcivia Defensive Player of the Year
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team was picked third in the Patriot League preseason poll announced Thursday while senior Leigh Ann Torcivia earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Led by co-captains Torcivia and junior Julie McBrien, the Mountain Hawks are looking to make their sixth straight Patriot League Tournament in 2012.

Lehigh wraps up first week of preseason practice
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team is wrapping up its first week of practice in preparation for its season opener on Feb. 18 vs. Marist. The Mountain Hawks began practice Monday, focusing on fundamentals as a young squad continues to improve and progress. Despite losing the Patriot League’s All-Time leading scorer in Lauren Dykstra, Lehigh returns a plethora of talent led by three 2011 All-League honorees.
