Torcivia, McBrien and Sukonik earn All-League honors
A trio of Lehigh women’s lacrosse players were named All-Patriot League performers, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia garnered First Team honors while junior Julie McBrien and freshman Carli Sukonik earned Second Team laurels. The three were among the team leaders in nearly every statistical category, including goals, assists, draw controls, groundballs and more.

Mountain Hawks drop season finale to Navy
The Navy women’s lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and wouldn’t look back in downing Lehigh, 14-4 on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks (7-9, 2-3 Patriot League) were led by Carli Sukonik who rounded out her freshman season with her seventh-career hat trick. It was also Senior Day as Lauren Murray, Anna Pierce and Leigh Ann Torcivia were all honored prior to their finals games in the Brown and White.

Lehigh welcomes Navy Saturday for Senior Day
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will host the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday in its season finale. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. It’s Senior Day as Leigh Ann Torcivia, Lauren Murray and Anna Pierce will be honored prior to their final game in the Brown and White. Lehigh and Navy split a pair of meetings last season.

Family Influence: Leigh Ann Torcivia Feature
Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia wanted to play soccer in college; playing lacrosse wasn’t even in her mind. Ultimately, the New Jersey native came to Lehigh, which has deep family routes. Her aunt Bonnie, a former Lehigh lacrosse and field hockey player herself, was a big influence in Leigh Ann even playing lacrosse, never mind developing into an All-Patriot League player.

Comeback falls short in 10-7 loss to Holy Cross
Trailing 6-2 at the half, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team scored five of the first seven second-half goals to pull within one, but couldn’t get any closer as Holy Cross tacked on the final two to win, 10-7 on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks (7-8, 2-3 Patriot League) gave up five goals in the first 15:39, but the defense was stingy from that point forward, allowing only one over the next 25:45 which allowed the offense to make a run.

Mountain Hawks welcome Holy Cross for crucial PL showdown
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will look to rebound from a midweek loss when it hosts Holy Cross in a big Patriot League showdown, Saturday at 1 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are seeking their fourth consecutive victory against their Patriot League rivals. Saturday’s game is huge for both teams; they enter with identical 2-2 league records, in a four-way tie for third place with just two games remaining.

Lehigh drops 15-3 final to #13 Penn State
The 13th ranked Penn State women’s lacrosse team scored the game’s first nine goals and wouldn’t look back to down Lehigh,15-3, on a chilly Wednesday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks (7-7) got goals from juniors Megan Kelly, Julie McBrien and Alissa Hardiman while classmate MaryLeah DiNisco made seven saves between the pipes. Lehigh will now look ahead to a big Patriot League showdown Saturday afternoon against Holy Cross.

Lehigh welcomes #13 Penn State for Wednesday night showdown
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will continue its season-ending homestand Wednesday evening when it welcomes the #13 Penn State Nittany Lions. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks are seeking their second straight win after defeating New Hampshire, 11-8, on Saturday. Lehigh has won five of its last seven games overall, gaining momentum heading into the stretch run of regular season play.

Mountain Hawks post strong 11-8 win over New Hampshire
Despite falling into an early 2-0 deficit, and standing tied with 15:26 remaining in regulation, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team used a 5-0 run to take an 11-6 lead and erase any doubt in an 11-8 win over New Hampshire Saturday. The win marks the Mountain Hawks’ fifth in their last seven games to improve to 7-6 on the season. Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia led the way with five points via a goal and four assists while junior MaryLeah DiNisco impressed with 11 saves between the pipes.

Lehigh begins final homestand Saturday vs. New Hampshire
Coming off a tough loss against Patriot League rival American, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will look to bounce back on Saturday against the New Hampshire Wildcats. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Saturday marks the first of four straight home games to close out the regular season. The contest will be the Mountain Hawks’ second-to-last nonleague contest of the season.

American rallies past Lehigh, 18-15
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team took a 7-3 first-half advantage, but American used a 6-0 run to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish as the Eagles (7-5, 3-1 Patriot League) downed the Mountain Hawks (6-6, 2-2), 18-15 on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Carli Sukonik tied a career-high eight points behind seven goals and an assist to lead the offense while junior Julie McBrien added four goals of her own.

Coming off of a victory against archrival Lafayette, the Mountain Hawks (5-5, 2-1 PL) will return to action in search of their second straight win as they head down the Main Line to face Villanova Tuesday night. Torcivia named PL Defensive Player of the Week
For the fourth time in her career, senior co-captain Leigh Ann Torcivia has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday. The Rumson, N.J. native earned the honor after two stellar performances last week, at Fairfield Wednesday and Saturday vs. rival Lafayette at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Mountain Hawks hold off rival Leopards 13-10
Seniors Leigh Ann Torcivia and Lauren Murray combined for seven goals and the defense tightened up in the second half as Lehigh evened its season record with a 13-10 win over rival Lafayette Saturday night at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks led for a vast majority of the game, but never led by more than three goals. With solid ball control in the final minutes Lehigh held on for the win to move to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in league games.

Lehigh and Lafayette collide for big Saturday night showdown
Following two straight road contests, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team returns home Saturday for a big matchup against the archrival Lafayette Leopards. Opening draw at the Ulrich Sports Complex is set for 7 p.m. It marks the team’s third Patriot League game of the season and first at home after falling at Colgate, then bouncing back to beat Bucknell.

Lehigh drops 11-8 final at Fairfield
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team held a 33-21 edge in shots, but struggled to beat Fairfield goalie Katie Keenan, who made 17 saves to propel the Stags (5-2) past the Mountain Hawks (4-5), 11-8, on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia led the way with two goals, two assists and a game-high five draw controls while sophomore Chelsea Retaleato and senior Lauren Murray also scored two goals apiece.

Sukonik earns second PL Rookie of the Week honor
Lehigh freshman attacker Carli Sukonik continues a stellar freshman season by earning a Patriot League Rookie of the Week award for her performances last week against Binghamton and Bucknell, announced by the league office Monday. It marks Sukonik’s second career honor, both coming in the last three weeks.
