Mountain Hawks announce team awards
Lehigh head women’s lacrosse coach Jill Redfern announced the team’s 2013 award winners on Tuesday. Senior Julie McBrien garnered Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year while sophomore Kelly Scott earned the Coaches Award.

McBrien named to Academic All-Patriot League Team
Lehigh senior midfielder Julie McBrien has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced late Tuesday. McBrien wrapped up a stellar four-year career on the field last week, posting 36 points for a second straight season while enjoying tremendous success in the classroom as well.

Three Mountain Hawks earn All-League honors
Following strong 2013 seasons, Lehigh women’s lacrosse senior Julie McBrien and sophomores Carli Sukonik and Lauren Willcox have earned Second Team All-Patriot League, as announced on Tuesday. McBrien led the Mountain Hawks in goals (33) and points (36) while Sukonik was right behind with 25 goals and 28 points. Willcox helped anchor a young defense that continues to grow.

Lehigh gets off to quick start, but falls at Holy Cross
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team scored five of the first six goals, but Holy Cross responded with a vengeance as the Crusaders came back to down the Mountain Hawks, 14-6 on Friday. Lehigh’s five goals came in the game’s first 8:42, but it wasn’t enough. Senior Julie McBrien and sophomore Carli Sukonik scored two goals apiece to lead the way.

Mountain Hawks wrap up season at Holy Cross Friday
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will head to Worcester, Mass. Friday for its final game of the season against Patriot League rival Holy Cross. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. The Mountain Hawks will look to win two straight to close out the season and gain momentum heading into the offseason and the 2014 campaign.

Lehigh runs past Howard on Senior Day, 18-6
The Mountain Hawks got off to an 8-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game and wouldn’t look back as the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team cruised to an 18-6 win over Howard on Sunday. It was Senior Day as a trio of seniors was recognized prior to their final home game in the Brown & White. Twelve different Mountain Hawks scored a goal in an exceptional all-around effort.

Mountain Hawks host Howard Sunday on Senior Day
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team will host Howard in its final home game of the season on Sunday at Ulrich Sports Complex. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. As part of Senior Day ceremonies, seniors MaryLeah DiNisco, Julie McBrien and Anna Patterson will be recognized prior to opening draw for their time with the Brown and White.

Julie McBrien: Making her mark
Every team needs a leader and senior women’s lacrosse captain Julie McBrien has more than delivered on carrying that responsibility, both on and off the lacrosse field. This year’s team features a majority of underclassmen, including nine freshmen and eight sophomores, all of whom are lucky enough to have McBrien to look up to in the game and in the classroom.

Lehigh falls at #7 Penn State
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team dropped a 16-3 final at #7 Penn State on Wednesday night. The Mountain Hawks got goals from freshmen Kendall Garden and Nicole Isdander, along with junior Julie Tatios. Lehigh will return home on Sunday to face Howard for its final home game of the season before heading to Holy Cross next Friday (Apr. 19).

The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team heads to in-state rival Penn State on Wednesday for a showdown against the #7 Nittany Lions. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks look to bounce back from a tough stretch against a strong Penn State squad. Lehigh will then return home to host Howard on Senior Day Sunday.

Lehigh fought back from an early 3-0 deficit to pull even at four, but American responded with a 5-0 run to end the half and rode the momentum in the second as the Mountain Hawks dropped a 16-8 final on Sunday. Senior Julie McBrien scored five of Lehigh’s goals, including the first four.

Lehigh hosts American Sunday for crucial Patriot League matchup
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team looks to bounce back from a midweek loss to Penn when it hosts American on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The crucial Patriot League matchup will be the final of three straight home games, all in an eight-day span. The Mountain Hawks enter 1-3 in league play but could still advance to the Patriot League Tournament by beating American Sunday and Holy Cross on Friday, Apr. 19.

Strong start not enough in loss to Penn
Lehigh scored the game’s first two goals and was within 3-2 at the half, but Penn proved too much as the Quakers exploded for 10 in the second to down the Mountain Hawks, 13-4 on a chilly Wednesday evening. Four different Lehigh players scored goals, led by a goal and assist from senior Julie McBrien.

Yale surges past Lehigh, 16-8
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team took a 5-4 lead early in the second half, but Yale responded in a big way to down the Mountain Hawks 16-8 on Sunday afternoon. Three Lehigh players posted multiple goals, led by three from senior Julie McBrien while freshman Megan Paytas and sophomore Kelsey Yenco added two goals and two assists apiece.

Lehigh drops tight 6-5 final at Lafayette
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team scored three of the final four first-half goals, but Lafayette mustered the one and only goal of the second as the Mountain Hawks dropped a tough 6-5 final on Friday evening. Junior Alexandra Fitzpatrick was stellar between the pipes, making 13 saves while freshman Megan Paytas paced the offense with a pair of goals.

Lehigh heads to Lafayette for big game Friday night
Coming off a big Patriot League win over Bucknell, the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team hopes to make it two in a row when it travels to archrival Lafayette to face the Leopards. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. at Rappolt Field in Easton. The winner will have a leg up in the race for a Patriot League Tournament berth in late April.

Dykstra named to Israeli World Cup lacrosse team
Former Lehigh women’s lacrosse standout Lauren Dykstra ‘11 has been named to the Israeli World Cup lacrosse team, as announced by the Israel Lacrosse Association on Monday. The association announced its 20-player roster which will compete at the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup at the Oshawa Civic Recreation Centre near Toronto, Canada from July 11-20, 2013.
