Mountain Hawks lead after 18 holes of Sunshine Spring Classic

MIMS, Fla. – The Lehigh women’s golf team is off to a strong start to the spring season as the Mountain Hawks lead a 16-team field after day one of the Sunshine Spring Classic at Walkabout Golf and Country Club. The Mountain Hawks tallied a team score of 321, led by an opening round 77 from freshman Crystal Lee to lead second place Detroit Mercy by eight strokes.
Lee shot a 37 on the front nine and a 40 on the back as she sits in second place overall, one shot behind Elia Folch Sola of Seminole State who opened with a 76.
Lehigh sophomores Chelsea Michalek and Natalie Lansing sit in a tie for 11th place after shooting first-round 81s on Friday. Sophomore Ginette Schapira is 16th with a score of 82, while senior Emily Endres shot 85 to tie for 27th, rounding out Lehigh’s five scorers.
Other individuals who competed for Lehigh include freshman Ava Panteli who is tied for 19th with a score of 83, and Elizabeth Sander and Erika Kretschmann shot 93 and 94 respectively.
Chasing Lehigh in the team race are the host Titans of Detroit, who shot 329 and Seminole State who sits in third at 331.
The Sunshine Spring Classic concludes with 18 more holes on Saturday.
