Mountain Hawks complete second day at Nittany Lion Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Ginette Schapira shot a second round 75 to lead Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks competed on day two of the three-day Nittany Lion Invitational Saturday on the Penn State Blue Course. Schapira’s second round score vaulted her into a tie for 35th place, leading the Mountain Hawks into the final day of competition.
 
The 75 was the lowest score posted by a Mountain Hawk through two rounds of play. Others who are competing for Lehigh include junior Chelsea Michalek, who sits in a tie for 48th place at 159 (76, 83), sophomore Crystal Lee, who shot 162 (80, 82) to tie for 59th place; freshman Kelly Moylan, who is tied for 74th with a score of 169 (81, 88) and freshman Melanie Dickens, who shot 172 (84, 88) and is tied for 77th place.
The Mountain Hawks followed their opening round 318 with a second round 328 and sit in 14th place with a score of 646. Eastern Michigan (300-297-597) vaulted over opening round leader Longwood (292-307-599) to take the 36-hole lead. Host Penn State (305-294-599) is tied with the Lancers for second place, with College of Charleston and South Florida rounding out the top five.
 
Longwood’s Ariel Witmer holds the individual lead at 144 (71, 73), two shots better than teammate Amanda Steinhagen (71-75-146).
