Lehigh sixth after opening round of C&F Bank Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Crystal Lee and junior Chelsea Michalek shot opening round 77s to tie for 12th overall as Lehigh sits in sixth place in the 16 team field at the C&F Bank Invitational at the Kingsmill Resort River Course. The Mountain Hawks posted a team score of 316 to sit 16 strokes off the pace with 36 holes remaining over the next two days.
Also competing for the Mountain Hawks were junior Ginette Schapira and freshman Kelly Moylan, who tied for 47th with opening round scores of 81. Freshman Melanie Dickens shot 90 and is tied for 88th place.
Longwood’s Kameron Carter shot an opening round 71 to take the 18-hole lead by one stroke over Toledo’s Piyathida Chaiyapan.
The Lancers shot 300 as a team over the opening 18 holes to lead St. John’s by seven strokes. The Mountain Hawks are two shots behind Boston College for fifth place, and one stroke ahead of Penn and High Point, who are tied for seventh.
The C&F Bank Invitational continues with 18 holes on Monday, followed by the final round of 18 on Tuesday from the Kingsmill Resort River Course.
