Lehigh returns to links Friday at Yale Intercollegiate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s golf team returns to the links this weekend at the three-day Yale Intercollegiate, which begins Friday in New Haven, Conn. The Mountain Hawks opened their fall campaign with a sixth place finish at the 15-team Bucknell Invitational Sept. 8-9 in Lewisburg, Pa.
Junior Crystal Lee led the Mountain Hawks at Bucknell, tying for tenth place overall. She was followed by senior captains Chelsea Michalek and Ginette Schapira, who finished 15th and 23rd respectively.

veral of Lehigh’s younger players gained valuable experience, highlighted by freshman Nicole Feierberg who finished in 20th place while competing as an individual. Sophomore Kelly Moylan and freshman Tess Jennings rounded out Lehigh’s scoring squad in its first weekend of competition, while sophomore Melanie Dickens also competed as an individual.
Last year, the Mountain Hawks finished ninth in a 16-team field at Yale, with Michalek finishing ninth and Lee finishing in 18th place.
This year’s Yale Intercollegiate will feature 17 teams including six Ivy League squads.
The Yale Intercollegiate begins Friday at the Course at Yale and runs through Sunday, with golfers playing 18 holes on each of the three days of competition.
Following the Yale Intercollegiate, Lehigh will compete at the Rutgers Invitational beginning October 5. The Mountain Hawks will also host the Lehigh Invitational October 20-21 at Saucon Valley CC.
