Lehigh off to strong start at Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s golf team teed off on its fall season Sunday at the Bison Invitational on the Bucknell Golf Course. All 15 teams in the field completed round one, while round two was halted after eight holes because of an afternoon thunderstorm. It was a good opening day for the Mountain Hawks, who sit in third place after 18 holes with a score of 307.
 
The Mountain Hawks were led by sophomore Crystal Lee and junior Ginette Schapira, who both shot 76 in the opening round on the par-70 course and sit in a tie for sixth place. Freshman Kelly Moylan is one stroke behind and sits in a tie for 16th with her 77. Junior Chelsea Michalek is tied for 22nd after shooting 78, while freshman Melanie Dickens shot an 80 and is tied for 37th place.
 
With its team score of 307, Lehigh sits three strokes behind Rutgers, who shot a 304. Seton Hall sits in second place after an opening round 306.
 
Individually, Rutgers’ Kortnie Maxoutopouli and Ann Colligan shot even-par 70 to tie for the 18 hole lead. Lee and Schapira are two of ten players who are six strokes back.
 
The Bison Invitational will conclude Monday at 8:30 a.m. with the conclusion of the second round plus the final round at the Bucknell Golf Course.
