Lehigh off to solid start at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s golf team opened its fall season with a strong showing on day one of the Bucknell Invitational Saturday at the par-70 Bucknell Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks, under first-year head coach Judy Dwyer, shot an opening round 320 and a second round 311 to sit in sixth place in the 15 team field with a 36 hole score of 631.
 
Lehigh was sixth after the opening 18 holes on a Saturday where rains briefly interrupted play during the afternoon. Junior Crystal Lee leads the Mountain Hawks individually, firing a 78 and 76 to sit in a tie for 11th at 154. Senior co-captain Chelsea Michalek paced the Mountain Hawks in round one with a 77 and followed with a 78 in the second round to sit in a tie for 14th, one shot behind Lee at 155.
 
Freshman Tess Jennings is currently tied for 24th place at 160 (81, 79). Sophomore Kelly Moylan and senior co-captain Ginette Schapira are tied for 39th with 36 hole scores of 163. Moylan shot an 84 then 79, while Schapira bounced back from a first-round 85 by shooting 78 in round two.
 
Two additional Mountain Hawks, freshman Nicole Feierberg and sophomore Melanie Dickens, competed as individuals. Feierberg tied for the low Lehigh round on the day with a second round 76 to sit in a tie for 24th at 160 (84, 76). Dickens shot 167 (85, 82) and is tied for 54th place.
 
Individually, Seton Hall’s Megan Tenhundfeld and Boston University’s Kristyna Pavlickova are tied for the lead after shooting identical rounds of 75-71-146.
 
Radford leads the team standings after 36 holes, at 618 (314, 304) to lead Rutgers by two strokes. Lehigh enters the final round of play two strokes behind Columbia and just 13 behind the leaders.
 
The final 18 holes of the Bucknell Invitational will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday from Lewisburg, Pa.
