Lee leads Mountain Hawks on day one of Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Crystal Lee shot an opening round 77 to lead Lehigh on day one of the Lehigh Invitational, which kicked off Saturday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. Lee sits in a tie for 11th place, while as a team the Mountain Hawks shot 317 and sit in sixth place in a field of eight teams.
Senior Chelsea Michalek posted Lehigh’s second best score on the day with a 79 and is tied for 19th place while sophomore Kelly Moylan shot 80 and is tied for 25th. Lehigh’s other two scoring players, senior Ginette Schapira and freshman Nicole Feierberg shot 81 and are tied for 31st in the 45 player field.
Lehigh also had five players compete as individuals, led by sophomore Melanie Dickens, who shot 79. Classmate Alyssa Scheyd shot 88, while freshman Tess Jennings and senior Natalie Lansing carded rounds of 90. Junior Elle Sander rounds out the field with a 92.
Kortnie Maxoutopoulis of Rutgers holds the 18-hole individual lead after shooting 72, to lead Christina Cantu of Seton Hall by one stroke.
Rutgers holds the team lead at 301, four shots better than Seton Hall. Princeton is in third at 307, followed by St. John’s (308) and Yale (312). The Mountain Hawks are in sixth place, one shot ahead of seventh place Georgetown and four better than Siena.
The Lehigh Invitational will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 from the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
