Posted: November 12, 2009

NASHVILLE – The Mountain Hawks will open their 2009-10 season Friday night when they take on the Lipscomb Lady Bisons at 8:30 p.m. Lehigh is coming off its most successful season in program history which included a program record 26 wins, its first Patriot League regular season title, a perfect 17-0 home record, and a NCAA Tournament appearance. The Mountain Hawks will be led by reigning Patriot League Player of the Year, junior Erica Prosser who averaged 14.2 points per game and 4.4 assists. The Lady Bisons return four of five starters from last years’ team and will be looking to win their first season opener since 2003.

Prosser heads into the season as Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year, and along with teammate Alex Ross both were named to the preseason First Team All-League. Ross one of the most prolific three-point shooters in program history needs only 29 more to pass Sara Ellis ’07 for first all-time with 239.

Lehigh’s 17-game winning streak at home is currently seventh best in all of Division I. The Mountain Hawks scoring margin over opponents last season was 10.1 which was 33rd in the nation.

The opening tip-off will take place Friday night at 8:30 p.m. EST from Allen Arena at Lipscomb University. The game will be broadcast live on WLVR-FM (91.3) and Lehighsports.com with Jeff Tourial calling the action.
