Posted: 03/01/2011
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the 2010-11 women’s basketball season heading into its final month of play, Lehigh senior guard Erica Prosser continues to rack up the awards, as she was named Patriot League Player of the Year, the league office announced on Tuesday.

In addition to earning Player of the Year, Prosser has also been named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. Prosser is the first player in Patriot League history to earn both player of the year and defensive player of the year honors. Senior forward Courtney Dentler was also recognized, as she was named to Second Team All-Patriot League.

Prosser earns Player of the Year honors for the second time in her career and First Team All-League honors for the third consecutive year as she guided the Mountain Hawks to their third-straight 20-win season. The senior finished the season third in the Patriot League in scoring (13.9 points per game) while leading the league in assists (6.0) and steals (2.4). Lehigh is 61-13 over the last two seasons when Prosser reaches double figures and she has led the team in scoring 12 times this season.

The Pittsburgh native continues to boost her legacy in Lehigh women’s basketball history as she is just one of four Mountain Hawks to score1,500 points for her career. Prosser joins Anne Tierney (1,807), Sherie Androlewicz (1,699) and Shawn Steward (1,638) as the four Lehigh players to drain at least 1,500 points. Additionally, Prosser is now only the second player in the history of the Patriot League to score 1,500 points and dish out 500 assists. The only other player to reach this milestone is Molly Creamer, who played at Bucknell from 1999-2003, scoring 2,462 points and 593 assists.

Dentler finished off her career by being named to the Second All-League Team. She is second on the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game, which ranked 10th in the Patriot League. Dentler also ranked sixth in field goal percentage, shooting at .472 clip and was second in the league in three-point field goal percentage at a .432 mark. Dentler is most recently coming off a 21-point and 13 rebound performance against Holy Cross on Saturday. She was one of three Lehigh players to score a double-double in that game, the first time that has ever been accomplished in program history.

Joining Prosser on the first team are American’s Liz Leer, Army’s Erin Anthony, Navy’s Angela Myers and Holy Cross’ Whitney Fremeau. On the second team along with Dentler are American’s Lisa Strack, Bucknell’s Cosima Higham, Colgate’s Taylor Wejnert, Lafayette’s LaKeisha Wright, and Navy’s Cassie Consedine.

Navy cleaned up the remaining individual awards as Jade Geif was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year and her coach, Stephanie Pemper was named Patriot League Coach of the Year.
