BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women’s basketball junior guard Kelly Peterson was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, announced Tuesday. The Concord, Calif. native is an economics major with a 3.89 GPA. Williams is not only excelling in the classroom, but on the court as well, ending the regular season ranked #4 in the league in three’s per game (1.8) and #8 in three-point field goal percentage (33.9%).

Peterson is joined on the five-member team by Navy’s Audrey Bauer, American’s Alexis Dobbs, Holy Cross’ Amy Lepley and Bucknell’s Rachel Voss. Dobbs was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Peterson has been strong in the classroom, earning a spot on the Patriot League Honor in 2010 and 2011 while winning the Faculty Athletics Council Award. She has also been named to the Dean’s List her first five semesters and has thrived in the leadership realm as a member of the Emerging Leaders program.

On the court, Peterson is having a career year averaging 9.5 points per game which is third on the team. Peterson leads the team in threes (42) and three’s attempted (124) as 50 percent of her made field goals have come from behind the arc this season.

Peterson set a career-high 19 points in a win over Lafayette on Feb. 19, also setting a career high of eight made field goals. In league games this season, Peterson has scored in double-figures in all but three games.

To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Patriot League awards, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.
