BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following two more standout performances, Lehigh women’s basketball freshman Kerry Kinek claimed her third consecutive Patriot League Rookie of the Week award and sixth of the season, as announced on Monday. The Whitehall, Pa. native finished with 27 points and 30 rebounds in a pair of double-digit wins against Bucknell and Lafayette. Included was a school and Patriot League record 22 rebounds at Bucknell Wednesday night.
Kinek posted a team-high 11 points along with a school and Patriot League record 22 rebounds against the Bison for her fifth-career double-double. She broke the previous school record of 21 rebound shared by Anne Tierney and Jenny Callan, and the league mark shared by those two and Bucknell’s Kelly Fitzpatrick in 1995.
Kinek scored a game-high 16 points against Lafayette Saturday, along with eight rebounds as the Mountain Hawks avenged an earlier loss to the Leopards. Kinek is averaging a team-leading 13.1 points and 8.5 rebounds for the season.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the hardwood on Wednesday when they travel to Annapolis, Md. for a 7 p.m. tip with Navy.
