Lehigh drops to Boston University, 72-44, in Classic finale
Despite 11 points and eight rebounds from junior forward Lindsay Hoskins, the Lehigh women’s basketball team fell to Boston University, 72-44, in the final game of the 16th annual Christmas City Classic. The Mountain Hawks rallied several times on the evening, but 12 three-pointers from the Terriers helped Boston U to its 10th win of the season.

Lehigh bests Binghamton, 67-37, behind Guman's performance
Senior co-captain Becky Guman set the pace for Lehigh after knocking down her first three treys en route to a career-high 18 points as the Mountain Hawks opened their Christmas City Classic play with a 67-37 victory over the Binghamton Bearcats inside Stabler Arena on Saturday evening. Along with Guman, sophomore Katie O’Reilly added 12 points in her first start of the 2012-13 season after starting 29 games last season.

Mountain Hawks to host 16th Annual Christmas City Classic
The Lehigh women’s basketball team is set to host its 16th annual Christmas City Classic tournament beginning Saturday, December 29 through Sunday, December 30 to include Boston University, Binghamton and Fairleigh Dickinson. The Mountain Hawks will begin on Saturday against the Binghamton Bearcats before concluding the Classic on Sunday against Boston University. Both games are scheduled to tip at 4:30 p.m.

Kinek earns second PL Rookie of the Week honor
After narrowly missing her fourth double-double with nine points and nine boards against Sacred Heart on December 20, freshman forward Kerry Kinek was named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week for the period ending on December 23. This marks the second time Kinek has received the Patriot League’s weekly award this season.

Mountain Hawks to hold ninth annual Christmas City Classic Clinic
The Lehigh women’s basketball team will hold its ninth annual Christmas City Classic Clinic on Thursday, December 27 from 1-3 p.m. inside Stabler Arena. The clinic is open to girls from grades one through eight and will be instructed by Lehigh women’s basketball coaches and players. The fee is $25 per girl or $20 per player through the special team rate (must sign up as a team).

Late surge pushes Sacred Heart past Lehigh 73-63
The Lehigh women’s basketball team clawed back from a halftime deficit, but Sacred Heart used a late second-half run to pull away as the Mountain Hawks fell 73-63 Thursday at Stabler Arena. A lay-up by senior Becky Guman tied the game at 56 with just under six minutes to play but the Pioneers outscored the Mountain Hawks 17-7 over the final 5:58 to earn the victory.

Lehigh returns to court for home tilt with Sacred Heart
Riding a two-game winning streak including a 23-point victory over Niagara on December 8, the Lehigh women’s basketball team will return to the hardwood after a 12-day hiatus to take on Sacred Heart on Thursday, December 20. The Mountain Hawks will play the third game of a five-game homestand that lasts throughout December against the Pioneers under the Stabler Arena lights at 7 p.m.

Lehigh drops Niagara, 72-49, behind several career efforts
As a part of the 23-point victory, several different Mountain Hawks set career-highs on the night while the Lehigh women’s basketball team earned its fourth victory of the season and second in-a-row with a 72-49 win over Niagara on Saturday night. The Mountain Hawks had four players in double figures while also having four players break career-highs.

Fresh off a comeback victory over Fairfield on Thursday night, the Lehigh women’s basketball team is set to host Niagara on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. for the third-consecutive match-up against a MAAC opponent. Lehigh trailed by as many as 15 on Thursday, but rallied to hold the Stags to just 12.1 percent shooting in the second half en route to the 47-42 win.

Kinek clinches PL Anaconda Rookie of the Week honors
Freshman forward Kerry Kinek has been named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week for the period ending on November 25, recognizing her stellar play against three quality opponents this past week. Kinek averaged 14.4 points per game and 8.7 rebounds in three tilts against La Salle, Wagner and Monmouth. It is the first Patriot League award the freshman has received in her collegiate career.

After building a five-point first half lead, the Lehigh women’s basketball team fell to Monmouth, 55-50, in double overtime on Sunday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks had opportunities to win the game at the buzzer at the end of regulation and the first overtime, but were unable to convert as the Hawks scored 11 points in the final extra session for the victory.

After taking a nine-point lead into halftime, the Lehigh women’s basketball team shot 51.9 percent in the second half to sink the Wagner Seahawks, 78-53, behind a career-high 20 points from senior Kelly Peterson. Freshman Kerry Kinek recorded her second double-double of her young career as the 6-3 forward tallied 17 points and pulled down 12 boards for the Mountain Hawks on Friday evening.

After a dramatic last-second loss to La Salle, the Lehigh women’s basketball team will be looking to bounce back against Wagner on Friday when it takes on the Seahawks at 4 p.m. on the campus of Monmouth University before hosting the Hawks on Sunday at 2 p.m. as a part of the Thanksgiving Challenge. Mountain Hawks drop heartbreaker on last second shot to La Salle, 49-48
After battling back from an early 10-point deficit, the Lehigh women’s basketball team fell to La Salle on Tuesday afternoon, 49-48, on a last-second shot by the Explorers. Trailing by two, La Salle knocked down a three-pointer with six seconds left for the one-point victory, their first in Bethlehem since the 1979-80 season, snapping the Mountain Hawks’ three-game home winning streak over the Explorers.

Freshman Kerry Kinek shined in her debut as she recorded a double-double with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds in the Lehigh women’s basketball 80-48 season opener loss to No. 13/15 California on Friday night. The Mountain Hawks played particularly well in the second half, shooting 38.7 percent from the floor, while the Lehigh bench outscored Cal’s by seven in the final 20 minutes and forced three more turnovers.

Lehigh to take on No. 13/15 California in season opener
The Golden State will be the first stop for the Lehigh women’s basketball team as the Mountain Hawks will travel across the country to take on the No. 13/15 California Golden Bears in the season opener Friday night for a 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) tip-off. Mixture of youth and experience the key for Lehigh in 2012-13

Troyan announces changes to coaching staff
Lehigh women’s basketball head coach Sue Troyan has announced a few changes to the coaching staff as the Mountain Hawks get set to gear up for the 2012-13 season. Caitlin Gillard was promoted from Director of Basketball Operations to the second assistant coach position, Laura Kurz was hired as the third assistant coach and Katie Kuester was hired as the new Director of Basketball Operations.

As part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the Patriot League announced all seven of its women’s winter/spring Academic Honor Rolls on Wednesday. Women’s basketball announces 2016 recruiting class
Lehigh head coach Sue Troyan has announced the addition of four student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks women’s basketball program in the fall. Guards Amina Affini and Elizabeth Jordan and forwards Kerry Kinek and Elizabeth Sharlow will comprise the Class of 2016. The four newcomers will join a Lehigh program that has posted three 20-win seasons in the past four years.

Williams earns First Team All-Patriot League honors
Lehigh women’s basketball senior forward Alexa Williams was named to the First Team All-Patriot League, announced Tuesday. The Warren, Ohio native leads the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks. Her 8.9 rebounds rank #1 in the league while her 12.5 points rank #6. Williams was named the league's Player of the Week twice this season as she is having a career year in the Brown and White.

Peterson named to Academic All-Patriot League Team
Lehigh women’s basketball junior guard Kelly Peterson was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, announced Tuesday. The Concord, Calif. native is an economics major with a 3.89 GPA. Williams is not only excelling in the classroom, but on the court as well, ending the regular season ranked #4 in the league in three’s per game (1.8) and #8 in three-point field goal percentage (33.9%).

With a quarterfinal game already clinched, Lehigh will look to secure the #2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament Saturday vs. Army at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season finale. The Lehigh women’s basketball team shot 50 percent in the first half to build up a 17-point lead en route to a 57-47 win over rival Lafayette Saturday afternoon. Mountain Hawks storm back for big 50-46 win over Navy

Williams named Patriot League Player of the Week
Senior forward Alexa Williams was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, as announced by the League Monday. The Warren, Ohio native led Lehigh to a pair of victories last week as she averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and shot 56 percent from the floor. Senior Alexa Williams and junior Kelly Peterson posted career highs of 23 and 17 points respectively to pace Lehigh past Lafayette 68-55 Saturday. Sophomore Hilary Weaver had a career-high 20 points as the Lehigh women’s basketball team won its Patriot League opener defeating Holy Cross 75-60 on Saturday. Lehigh women’s basketball visits local elementary schools
The Lehigh women’s basketball team visited two local elementary schools over the past two days as the Mountain Hawks continue their efforts to reach out to the community. Lehigh visited Asa Packer Elementary School on Tuesday followed by Farmersville Elementary on Wednesday. At each visit, Lehigh stressed the importance of being a team and what it takes to be successful on and off the court.
