Nine Mountain Hawks named to League Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team placed nine student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the second most of any team in the League. The Mountain Hawks had a historic year on the court en route to earning a No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, its highest seed since 2003. Lehigh was equally successful off the court as the nine named to the Honor Roll had an average GPA of 3.45.
Lehigh’s academic success was led by freshman Jade Van Streepen, who is enrolled in the Engineering school and earned a 3.83 GPA in her first semester at Lehigh.
Following Van Streepen is sophomore Amanda Clark, a biology major who earned a 3.73 GPA for her second career Patriot League Honor Roll award. In November, Clark was also named to the eight-player Academic All-Patriot League Team. The middle blocker from Irvine, Calif. was not only successful off the court, but on it as well, ranked second in the League in blocks (1.08) and eighth in hitting percentage (.267).
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the semester of their sport’s competition.
Lehigh finished the season 19-10 and 10-5 in League play while qualifying for the Patriot League tournament for the second time in three years and first under first-year head coach Bob Bertucci. The Mountain Hawks had some stand out performances during the season including handing eventual Patriot League champion American its lone League loss of the season and its first-ever three-set loss in a regular season match since the Eagles joined the Patriot League in 2001.
Eight of the nine Mountain Hawks on Honor Roll will return next season as Lehigh will look towards another successful year on and off the court.
