Lehigh picked third in preseason poll, Poole named preseason All-League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s volleyball team is predicted to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll, receiving 71 points, while senior Taylor Poole was selected to the preseason All-League team. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a third place finish in 2011 (19-10, 10-4 Patriot League), earning the #3 seed in their first trip to the Patriot League Tournament since 2009. Lehigh returns its first team All-Patriot League selection in Taylor Poole and also Libero of the Year Rachel Charles.
American was predicted to finish first with 98 points (14 first-place votes), followed by Army (86), Lehigh (71), Colgate (64), Holy Cross (49), Bucknell (31), Navy (30) and Lafayette (19). American took home the Patriot League title last season after finishing 13-1 in league play before defeating Colgate and Army in the Patriot League Tournament.
Taylor Poole earned a selection to the preseason All-League team after a stellar 2011 performance. The 2010 and 2011 first team All-Patriot League performer started all 29 games for the Mountain Hawks last season and finished first on the team in hitting percentage at .324, second in blocks (56), third in kills (206). Poole has recorded 623 kills, 70 aces and 190 blocks in her 85 career matches.
The Mountain Hawks continue in preparation for their season opener this Sunday at 6 p.m. when they host Rider at Leeman-Turner Arena.
